Moloch | 3975 comments There are 2 character pages for Edgar Allan Poe:

http://www.goodreads.com/characters/1...
and
http://www.goodreads.com/characters/4...

I wanted to merge them but I don't know how to do it properly.
By the way, when creating a character like this, a famous historical figure from the past cast as a character of an historical novel (like Aristotle or Kant as detectives, etc.), should you check or uncheck the "Is this a fictional character?" box?

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments Working out how to do it, I used your example so here goes:

Go to the character page, at the bottom are links to the books associated with that character and an edit character link.

Click on that link then you get the option to merge - you need to search for the character to merge.

In regards to the Is this a fictional character I would say yes since they are not fiction, the book maybe but not the person. Others may disagree !

Violetta | 477 comments So long as the books that are linked with the character remain free of works by the author, I don't see a problem :)
