Lynette Sofras (manicscribbler) Charles Dickens is one of my favourite writers, but he can be rather wordy and some of his words and phrases are now quite obscure.

Having taught ‘A Christmas Carol’ many times, I created a glossary of unfamiliar words and phrases with their meanings for my students, to save them asking numerous questions while reading. I used to project this in the form of power-point slides onto the whiteboard as we read in class, so students could just glance up when they came across a word or phrase they didn’t understand. I also have these as chapter by chapter (or rather stave by stave) word documents.

If any readers would like a copy to help them along with their December read, then I’ll be happy to email the five word docs (in a zipped file if preferred), which can be printed off or just read on computer. I have discussed this with Jill and hopefully she will be the first to try the glossary out and let you know if it’s helpful.

Anyone interested in a copy, please email me at [email protected]

Happy reading – this has to be one of the most popular and heart-warming tales written.

Lynette Sofras (manicscribbler) Happy to oblige, but I will need an email address - unless there is somewhere on Goodreads I can post this information?

Deborah Hello! I would love to use these vocab sheets while I read A Christmas Carol but I tried emailing you and it didn't work... Hopefully there is a place on Goodreads you can post this!

Lynette Sofras (manicscribbler) Oops! I am REALLY sorry! I missed a letter out of my email address. All fixed now. #^.^#

Will email you soon. Suppose if it is a work document you could copy and paste onto a thread. If you email it to me I could try do it if you can't.
