Janice (jamasc) | 59907 comments This folder will be used to invite and discuss others to read a book with you.

For example, if I want to read Anna Karenina and want to read and discuss the book with others, I would start a thread in this folder. The title would be Anna Karenina, and the message would read something along the lines of, "I'm looking for others to read Anna Karenina with me. Sign up below."

It looks like a very interesting book and it should generate very good discussion in you RL book club. I wouldn't mind reading it, but I'm a little stretched thin at the moment. :(

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Ia anyone interested in a buddy read of A Game of Thrones? I keep meaning to read it, but end up being put off by the size of it and pick up something lighter.
Starting sometime early august, maybe?

message 12: by Pragya (last edited Jul 26, 2013 09:24AM) (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4027 comments Yes, Helen. I have been doing the exact thing! I'm in. :)

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Hurrah, Pragya's going to make me read it.

I will start it once I've finished my "E" alphabet book, which I think will be in a week or so. So If we said start discussing mid August does that suit? There's nothing wrong with getting a head start on reading it before then. I'm not good at reading to a schedule, so maybe we should agree to divide it into sections for discussion purposes. Maybe into 3? pages 1 - 250 (ish) 250 to 500 and 500 to end?

I'll set up a thread - the more the merrier, obviously.

message 14: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4027 comments Sounds good, Helen. Reading in August and divide by sections.

Anyone wants to join us?

Is anyone interested in a buddy read for The Name of the Wind (that's what I came to ask in the first place)? I'm only at chapter 3.

Janice (jamasc) | 59907 comments I updated the Buddy Reads calendar. There are some books that were scheduled to start in Feb/Mar (or TBA in one case). Please let me know if these buddy reads are current, ongoing, or history.

message 25: by Casceil (last edited Mar 29, 2014 10:23AM) (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Back in late January or early February, some of us discussed setting up a buddy read in March for Bellefleur by Joyce Carol Oates. It never came off, possibly because we were all too busy with other things. I would still be interested in doing a buddy read for it, later in the spring, if anyone else is interested.

message 26: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) | 3367 comments Casceil, that books looks great. I just ordered a secondhand copy. I'd be interested in joining you later in the spring. I've never read Joyce Carol Oates, but I've always wanted to try her.
