message 151: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I plan to read the remaining 5 books of dark tower this year for series killer. Next up is #3. Can we get it on the calendar. Maybe around March 1? My schedule is free indefinitely really, just seeing a lot of other buddy reads going on .

message 152: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I'm in for the next dark tower. Early March sounds good to me. It's more of a chunkster than the last.

message 153: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments I'll add it to the calendar. I also posted in the thread to bring it back up to the top. Looking forward to it.

message 154: by Anne (Booklady) (new)

Anne (Booklady) Molinarolo (wwwgoodreadscomAnneMolinarolo) | 1282 comments Yay, Sandra, Michelle, and I are going to do a buddy read of The Bell Jar before the toppler.

message 155: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments I've updated the buddy reads calendar. Please let me know if I've missed anything, or deleted a buddy read that is still going on.

message 156: by Missy (new)

Missy (missy_reading89) Are there any buddy reads going on right now? I am in a bit of a reading slump and I was thinking maybe a buddy read might help me get out of it.

message 157: by Rusalka, Moderator (last edited Feb 21, 2015 06:29AM) (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Hi Missy.

Our Buddy Reads calendar which shows all current and scheduled reads that Janice said she has just updated to the group's current plans, can be found here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Hopefully you find something that sparks your interest!

Missy (missy_reading89) Thank you

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments No worries! :D

message 160: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments I think Avempartha and The Crown Conspiracy are pretty much finished. What about Iron Council?

message 161: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments Missy, if there's anything you'd like to read with buddies, feel free to start a thread and get the ball rolling.

message 162: by Missy (new)

Missy (missy_reading89) Thanks Janice I will keep that in mind :-)

message 163: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Still going with Iron Council.

message 164: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments Thanks Sarah.

message 165: by Missy (new)

Missy (missy_reading89) Does anyone want to read The Narrow Road to the Deep Northwith me starting March 1st?

message 166: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11264 comments This is on my priority list for this year Missy. I'm not sure I can make room for it in March. I'm already committed to other 4 books. But I'll take a look at the discussion for sure, and join it later if I can.

message 167: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I'd love to read that one but I won't be ready March 1st. It's on my to-read list for 2015 as well!

message 168: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Cherie and I are starting to read Cloudstreet by Tim Winton for the March weather challenge. If anyone else wants to join in, we would love to have you participate.

message 169: by Lisa (last edited May 10, 2015 04:40AM) (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Does anyone want to do a buddy read of Finders Keepers, the follow up to Mr Mercedes? It is due to be published June 2nd so I was thinking either a June or July start date.

message 170: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Yes please Lisa. I've pre ordered my copy. I really enjoyed the buddy read for Mr Mercedes.

message 171: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19160 comments Lisa, I would be interested in that read too! End of June would work best for me, but I could do July too.

message 172: by Lisa (last edited May 10, 2015 07:46AM) (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Great! :) How about starting on either 28th June or 5th July? The toppler should be finished by then so it shouldn't clash. What do you both think?

message 173: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Either sounds good to me although end of June I think I'd prefer only so I don't have to wait an extra week.

message 174: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Ok, I will go and set up a discussion thread for it. I will put 28th June as the start date but we can always change it if needs be. I'm excited already! Mr Mercedes was so good!

message 175: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19160 comments Excellent! looking forward to it!!

message 176: by Saumitra (new)

Saumitra (saumitra1) | 30 comments Anyone interested in buddy reading the Brothers Karamazov? This is my next one after I finish the current Baldacci novel.

message 177: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments It's looking like a few of us may be reading The Giver by Lois Lowry for the toppler and I wondered if anyone fancied buddy reading it?

message 178: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Would anyone like to do a buddy read of The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating? It's nonfiction and is supposed to be really sweet.

Also, Janice and I are looking to do a buddy read possibly in July of The Forgotten Highlander: My Incredible Story Of Survival During The War In The Far East. Anyone interested in joining?

I'm not sure about the rules in this group for Buddy reads, but I read Wild Snail very recently and would love to discuss along with whoever does the Buddy Read.

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments Kandice wrote: "I'm not sure about the rules in this group for Buddy reads, but I read Wild Snail very recently and would love to discuss along with whoever does the Buddy Read...."

There are no rules for buddy reads. Basically, once you establish you are going to do a buddy read, you set up a topid in this folder. The people who are reading decide for themselves how they wish to approach it - whether they comment as they read, andwer discussion guide questions.

Oh, there is one rule. Sorry. Please mark your spoilers behind spoiler tags.

Me too! I have to get my hands on a copy. When do you have in mind, Janet?

message 184: by Amanda (Mandy) (new)

Yes, I'm in!

message 186: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Thinking August for Wild Snail buddy read?

message 187: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Or sooner is okay, too. August maybe sounds far away, but it gives us all time to get hold of a copy, and time to fulfill other reading goals before.

message 188: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I'll set up a thread later for The Giver.

message 189: by Tasha (new)

Tasha The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating sounds so cute! How can I resist? I'm in. :)

message 190: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments I need someone to set up the buddy read thread for Wild Snail so I can add it to the Buddy read calendar. I see that Sarah is going to set up the one for The Giver.

message 191: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments RE. the snail book - the author has a pdf on her website of the first 3 chapters for those who aren't sure whether to read it or not yet. not sure if that's more than you'd get with kindle sample or not. I'm umming and erring about whether to read it with you guys - it's pretty expensive here still even when second hand.

Where are you? Can you "borrow" ebooks?

message 193: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I'm in the UK and unfortunately I cannot borrow ebooks for my kindle. I'll read the sample and see what I think. if I must read on, I'll buy it.

message 194: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments My local library has a hard copy - yay - that i'm planning to borrow. No wait at the moment, but who knows when I actually want to check it out. I can't really afford to spend much on books tho I sometimes treat myself, and I tend to give books as gifts to family members. Get to enjoy buying some books that way :)

message 195: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I can't use the libraries I'm a member of anymore because we move about and I don't want to incur any fines. I can still access their ebooks but there is less choice there unfortunately.

message 196: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Living on the long boat tho is such a cool real-life adventure, Sarah. Less access to library books would be a hard thing But is a worthy sacrifice for this unique and interesting experience. Wish we could give our ebooks to the library, but I think I've figured outa sort of way to do so. Buy the eBook for my library as a gift outright. Then borrow it myself. The bummer part tho is it would delay my getting access to it. Might even have to wait on a hold list.

message 197: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Yes you are right TJ. I am loving the experience so I'm not too bothered about the library. I have loads of books I already own but haven't read so that will keep me going. love the idea of gifting the library with an ebook but it would be annoying if you were stuck on a hold list for it after that.

message 198: by Amanda (Mandy) (new)

Amanda (Mandy) | 762 comments Sarah, have you thought about joining kindle unlimited. It is $9.99 a month in the U.S. and the first month is free. This book is one of the ones offered. They also have some books with narration.

message 199: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments It's £7.99 per month here. I looked at it once before when it first came out and there weren't a huge amount of books that I fancied on there (or I already owned them). Thanks for mentioning it though Amanda.

message 200: by Canadian Dragon (new)

Canadian Dragon | 1020 comments Just a quick question - do the moderators delete buddy threads? I jump genres a lot and was thinking I am ready to read The Drawing of the Three in the Dark Tower series but I want to read the comments the group has posted
