If you don't have time to read a full Ellery Queen novel during December, if you can find it, how about reading some of the short stories from any old Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine.
(I picked up a load of those at my libraries annual summer book sale, at ten cents a pound. I'm not sure where to find new copies of it, although it's still being published.)

I read the first of The XYZ Murders, The Tragedy of X two years ago for a read the alphabet challenge. (Gave me X!). So I think I'll continue with that and read The Tragedy of Y.

Yes, besides all of his novels, there are the short stories and beyond even that is the Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine. Those are good too.

Lucky you. I've never seen the Ellery Queen tv series starring Jim Hutton. Thought about buying the DVD of the series to watch, but it's rather pricey.

The TV show was great! Jim Hutton died not long after it ended.

I'm old enough to know better, but I've never read an Elery Queen novel. That's why I love Goodreads. It keeps me on my toes and let's me meet very smart people!

It's quite possible the anthologies and such have alternate titles. I know The XYZ Murders hardcover I have is attributed to Ellery Queen on my copy but the only copy on GRs is under Barnaby Ross (a pen name). It's also possible the list I used wasn't complete. (The link I used it posted above along with their description of who/what Ellery Queen is.)

At my (friend of the local) library's bookshop today I found and bought 5 old Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine's for 50 cents each. I read part of the Feb 2005 issue, part of the Ellery Queen Centenary (2005). I read "The Queen Letters" which was all about the author's look at an archive of letters written between Dannay and Lee, the cousins that make up Ellery Queen. Later in the issue, I then read "Ellery Queen and the Baker Street Irregulars" (BSI) which is about how Dannay eventually became a full fledged member of this Sherlock Holmes loving group.
Looking forward to another story in this issue, "Gustav Amlingmeyer, Holmes on the Range" by Steve Hockensmith. (Sherlock Holmes has fictional fans as well as real-life devotees such as the BSI, whom we are honoring this issue. Steve Hockensmith's Old Red is a fine example. The sleuthing cowboy has practically memorized every Holmes story he can get his hands on. Old Red is soon to start appearing in a series of novels from St. Martin's Minotaur. Look for "Holmes on the Range" in early 2006.)

I like alot of the Ellery Queen Anthologies as it's a good way to get introduced to alot of classic mystery authors. And if you don't have time for a full novel, you can just pick and read one short mystery or two, time permitting.

If I have ever read his ,it was a few shorts. This book is really good and almost halfway though.

Finished yesterday. I really liked the play on #'s (9)in here. so interesting and though I figured the murderer, I will definitely want to read more. One of the top cozies I have read.
Any idea on next months author. sooner I know the better to get it ordered?
I've read A Study in Terror, that it was included in an Spanish anthology about "Jack the Ripper", and I think it is very good.

Bit busy over New Year's Karen. I have to send my husband off tomorrow to see if he'll get hired for a job. If he gets it, he'll be gone 60 days. To find out, he has to take a bus 640 miles for 10 days. I'll try to get to it on Monday. Don't know who I'm choosing yet.

Thanks. I know it cannot be easy setting this up. I am in agreement with husband's course as Marisa said. And just waiting to see who you choose.
