Werner, the guy that started this group, published a book & has told me some of his trials & tribulations. I've proof-read ARC's for a lot of new authors here & have heard some of their horror stories, too. I'm sure it has been a wild year.

Jason, I join Jim in congratulating you (and the same to all the other authors in our group with recent publications). Best wishes for success to all of you!

As Jim noted, getting published isn't an easy road to travel --and self-publication, while it seems "easy" to do nowadays, usually doesn't pan out very well in the end, at least in my opinion (and experience!). IMO, the best "happy medium" route is working with a small press, as opposed to Big Publishing. Raw Dog Screaming Press sounds like it has some things in common, in its approach, with my current publisher, Trestle Press; I think the future of publishing lies with small, innovative, author-centered and techno-savvy enterprises like these!
