That's a long time to wait, but at least it's in motion. Hopefully the editing will go smoothly.
I prefer my usual publisher that doesn't have fixed release schedules. (One of my recent books with a different pub was finished three months before the release date, and the sitting around waiting is driving me crazy, and that was only a 6-month wait from contract to release. A year would be really tough.)
Good luck with it.

I came across the latest copy of my book's synopsis from the publisher's upcoming catalog and updated it here on Goodreads :-) To read it, click on the cover.

Just wanted to share some exciting news! Even though my debut Young Adult novel sold this past June, it's finally been announced in Publishers Marketplace!
It doesn't allow me to link directly, but here's the text of the Publisher's Marketplace announcement, which appeared in the "Deal" section on November 28:
"Steven dos Santos's THE TORCH KEEPER, about a young man's harrowing struggle to save his younger brother by surviving a sadistic military recruitment -- and facing the horrifying fate that awaits not only each recruit, but their loved ones, to Brian Farrey at Flux, in a two-book deal, for publication in Winter 2013, by Ginger Knowlton at Curtis Brown."
The novel features a gay male protagonist and love interest. While waiting on revision notes from my editor, I'm currently working on the sequel, which will feature other characters in the GLBTQ spectrum;-)
I look forward to sharing more news with all of you and hearing about your own projects.
Thanks!
