message 616: by Nurullah (new)

Nurullah Doğan (nurullahdoganyt) | 1 comments Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings from Turkey, a land of Biblical times, containing Noah’s Mount Ararat, Haran of Abraham, and where Ezekiel prophesied against Gog. The Apostle Paul ministered largely in lands we call Turkey today. Ephesus, Colossae, Galatia, and the seven churches of Revelation are all located here. In fact, the first seven Ecumenical Councils were held in cities in modern-day Turkey, including Nicaea, where the monumentous Nicean (Apostle’s) Creed was formulated. Unfortunately, most Turks have no idea of the deep biblical history of their land. Over 90% of Turkey’s population identifies as Muslim, and Turkey remains one of the largest countries in the world with the smallest percentage of Christians. Economic instability and potential persecution have led to local Christian youth wanting to flee the country, and recent waves of unjust deportations have caused a sharp decrease in Turkish-speaking foreign workers.
During this time of growing disillusionment with Islam in this country of 85 million people, there is a tragic lack of churches in the vast majority of the country. Turkey is filled with seekers, while foreign workers are not allowed residence in many areas. And yet there is one avenue to instantly reaching 95% of the people in Turkey: the internet. Young adults questioning their faith often begin researching alternatives to Islam online. The pandemic was when the demand for Christian media content skyrocketed. And I was there for that moment, with my camera ready to go, when my evangelistic videos went viral and began reaching thousands.

My name is Nurullah. I was born in Gaziantep, a city in the southeast of Turkey. I spent my childhood years absorbing traditional Muslim teaching through my very conservative family, especially my dad. In 2013, I came across a New Testament during my research about Christianity and my faith and made the radical decision to become a Christian within that year. Although my father initially kicked me out of the home, my faith journey progressed with passion. I eventually came to realize that I had a voice that was unique in Turkey. I was a technologically adept, Muslim-background Turkish-speaking believer, who knows fluent English on a native speaker level, and who is now educated in English Language and Literature, International Relations, Philosophy and Business. I also completed MESD (Middle East School of Discipleship), an intensive two week program, along with the Exile Ministry Training Program, an intensive three month program in Cyprus.

It was my radical journey from a traditional Muslim upbringing to embracing Christianity that ignited my passion for producing evangelistic and apologetics materials. I had a vision for an online platform that would both bridge the gap for Turkish-speaking individuals to learn the truth of the Gospel and equip newly converted believers to confidently grow in and share their faith. In 2020, I started producing (and translating) videos in Turkish together with other evangelistic Turkish as well as international ministries. While seekers are many in Turkey, resources are few and people often struggle to find effective ways to learn about the Gospel. The search either begins by visiting a local church if it even exists in their area, or more frequently, often begins online - especially for those fearful of social retribution. Turkey is a country of young, intimate congregations, with averages of 50 members per church and perhaps a dozen visitors a week at best. And online, churches’ YouTube channels usually remain under a modest 100 views per video, even for videos that have been up for years. While churches need to focus on their face-to-face outreach and discipleship, the harvest is ripe for young entrepreneurs to expand the churches’ diligent work into a new dimension: the internet. Four years later, my channel now consistently surpasses 5,000 views per video, with a handful of videos going viral such as a recent Instagram reel that received 3.5 million views and counting.

And yet there is one more element to this story. Tragically, those of us with a heart for ministry often lack fundamental resources, and both in-person as well as online ministries with high impact and amazing potential often end before their time due to insufficient funds.

I am now at a pivotal juncture in this incredibly fruitful journey. For this vital ministry to make a lasting impact, I need to go full-time. Having a family of my own and new financial responsibilities now, the urgency to find new ministry partners and expand this working vision has never been more pressing. Looking ahead, I envision a fully-funded ministry that is equipped to address the spiritual hunger of Turkish-speaking communities. This will allow me to commit myself entirely to growth and impact. With your generous support, I will continue producing high-quality Christian content that hits home in my Middle Eastern region. In fact, the dream is greater than just a single YouTuber: in the long term, I dream of an expansion to include others who share the same vision, eventually forming a digital outreach team fully dedicated to this high-impact work.

Imagine a future where Turkish Christians are empowered to confidently share their faith, where young minds find solace in the truth of the Gospel, and where Turkey's rich biblical heritage is embraced and celebrated once more. This is where YOU come in! Join me on this transformative journey. Your partnership is essential in realizing this vision. You can make a tangible impact in sharing the light of Christ in Turkey, bringing this vision to fruition.

The first and most important way you can partner with me is through prayer. Prayer is the lifeblood of all ministry and vital for protection, guidance, and fruitfulness. Lift me and this crucial mission up before the Lord. Secondly, you can choose to support this ministry financially. Through financial partnership we can make use of the power of technology and education to spread the message of hope and salvation to this unreached and yet Biblically rich land of Turkey.

You can contact me for more information and on how to financially support by replying to this e-mail. As I am trying to expand my reach and connections to keep the ministry alive and going, it would mean a lot if you could read and forward it to your church and to people who you think could be interested in reading and possibly supporting it! 🙏 I can send it to your email too if you can share your email address with me.
