Chip Tudor (chiptudor) | 105 comments FUNNY WRITING

Funny writing is like performing magic. You intentionally lead the audience towards a certain assumption or conclusion and then switch to the unexpected. For you, the comedy writer, it means always looking at things from a different, humorous perspective. Always asking what if? Where’s the comedy? How can I make it funny?

For example:

Tomorrow morning I have to get on a plane to Chicago…I’d prefer to ride inside the plane, but really, have you seen ticket prices lately?

Work has been killing me lately because I’ve spent the last 3 weeks on the road…run over by 100 cars, 25 trucks, and picked on by 4 buzzards.

Luke 3:15-17 (English Standard Version): 15 As the people were in expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Christ, 16 John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 17 His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”

message 689: by Joe (new)

Joe | 5 comments GREATER WORKS THAN THESE HE WILL DO

Jesus made a statement which alludes to the fact that every believer has the ability to do the very same works that He did, and even do greater works. In the gospel of John 14:12, Jesus said, '12“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; AND GREATER WORKS THAN THESE HE WILL DO, because I go to My Father. '

It is important for believers to know the greater works that they are called to do, and the word of God can help us along this line. In order to know what these greater works are, we must first lay a foundation by looking at the works that Jesus did as this will provide us with a premise for understanding the greater works.
