message 51: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melanie_yamidnightreads) TID is better in my opinion

message 52: by Yvette (new)

Yvette Calleiro (yvettemcalleiro) | 6 comments I am absolutely in love with TMI. I like TID but I'm not big into historical settings so that may be why my heart goes with TMI.

message 53: by Varsha (new)

Varsha | 25 comments The main reason i love TID is because of the historical setting. There's something magical about stories set in a totally different era. I like TMI too, hell i love it. But i prefer TID

Christalle Luneta, Huntress (ChristelleLuneta) | 3 comments I really luv both :) but if I had to I would say tmi series

message 55: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Moore | 1 comments Omg tough one!! The end of infernal devices was EPIC I literally cried for a whole day haha but if I have to pick one it would be mortal instruments. I just love clary and jace too much

message 56: by Elise (new)

Elise (elisemae) | 36 comments I choose the MI. I felt more connected to the story.

message 57: by Leeann (new)

Leeann | 1 comments Infernal Devices hands down after I'm finished with the Of Poseidon series by Anna Banks I'm rereading TID

message 58: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 9 comments I love TID, I think they were better. But you still have to read TMI, I just wish she would have stopped at book 3 on that series.
-<3 Jem-

message 59: by Trina (new)

Trina | 7 comments Deffo The Infernal Devices for me - I like The Mortal Instruments but for me there's no competition between these 2, TID is 1 of my ultimate favourite books of all time!!!

message 60: by Tcoco (new)

Tcoco | 2 comments The Infernal Devices all the way :)

message 61: by YA Book Bum (new)

YA Book Bum (crackling-bones) | 12 comments I'll have to say.... "drum rolss"
TID...Forever the Infernal Devices :D

message 62: by YA Book Bum (new)

YA Book Bum (crackling-bones) | 12 comments By the angels.. *rolls* spelling..WHY!!!!????!!!!!

message 63: by Sofia (new)

Sofia | 10 comments Definitely the Infernal Devices, I found the characters more likable and the Mortal Instruments book are getting worse: I think she should have stopped with that series after City of Glass.

message 64: by rai ♡ (new)

rai ♡ | 1032 comments I like both series, but I guess I lean more towards liking the Infernal Devices series. I like the 1800's time period. Also, I like Jace, but I kinda like his ancestor more (Will)...

message 65: by Fifth Horseman (new)

Fifth Horseman (fifthhorseman) Oh no! ....I'll have to say TID. But what does that say about Cassandra Clare that she could write an even better sequel/prequel?! :)

message 66: by Sayyeda (new)

Sayyeda (literaryhues) | 265 comments I love them both but I'll have to choose TID. :)

message 67: by maria. (new)

maria. (thecharacterstudy) I love them both dearly, but I have to say TID is slightly better in my opinion, but that's only because Will Herondale is there. I think Cassie's writing skills have gotten better since she wrote City of Bones. And even though I love Alec and his relationship with Magnus, my love for Will will always be worryingly strong, so yeah.

message 68: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl L | 36 comments I like the infernal devices better.

I love all the characters and the plot of TID. Will Herondale is hilarious, and I like how Tessa Gray loves books so much!
I like the mortal instruments too, but I feel that the storyline in City of Lost souls and City of fallen angels are kind of similar, with Jace getting 'possessed'. I don't really like Clary, because I find her a little whiny and useless. I do like Jace when he is sarcastic and funny, Simon, Magnus and Isabelle though.

message 69: by Allisa (new)

Allisa Just started these books, about 20% done with clockwork angel (haven't read the mortal instruments) is it wrong to start with the infernal devices or is that normal? And I've been looking for a book discussion on just clockwork angel but haven't found one. Was just planning on mentioning how Tessa's love for books really adds to the story so far. She compares them to diamonds and when will takes her to their library she about poops herself. It reminded me of why i read and it really made me smile. I can really relate to Tess in that matter. Also I have a feeling that her necklace (the clockwork angel) has to do with her powers. I don't want to know whether that is right or not and I could be way off but it's just a prediction. I'm already so into this book, so excited to finish it and the whole series including the mortal instruments.

message 70: by Lili (new)

Lili (ceclor97) | 16 comments I prefer the Infernal Devices, mainly because I prefer Tessa over Clary. Clary's a little hotheaded and overreacts A LOT and Tessa's relatively levelheaded and sweet-natured. Also, Will and Jem -- want me to SAY MORE?!

message 71: by Jesus (new)

Jesus S (jaehundreds) | 15 comments Should I start with The Infernal Devices or read The Mortal Instruments first?
Or does it not really matter what order they're read in?

message 72: by Jesus (new)

Jesus S (jaehundreds) | 15 comments Georgia wrote: "I'd probably start with the infernal devices first because i think it explains what they all are and the history and stuff more but it's up to you really :)"

Thanks :)
Yeah, I think I'll start with TID. I just wasn't sure if I had to read TMI first to understand what's going on.

Jennifer (ivashkovlover) | 3376 comments Mod
Infernal Devices because it has Jem Carstairs and he is my absolute fav.

Yeah, I thin..."

Well, to understand some subtle references, you should start with TID. I personally found it much more satisfying to read TID after City of Heavenly Fire.

message 76: by Erika (new)

Erika Rominger | 28 comments OMG the Infernal Devices is the best series I have ever read in my life. #ClockworkPrince4Life It is seriously the best book I have read in my life. I laughed and cried, and I just overall loved it. And when I finally got to read Clockwork Princess I loved it too! But seriously I think TID is way better than The Mortal Instruments...

message 77: by Erika (new)

Erika Rominger | 28 comments P.S. Jem Carstairs. That is all. :)))))))))))

message 78: by Jasmin (new)

Jasmin | 8 comments TID for me!

message 79: by Usha (new)

Usha (u5hads) | 24 comments TID!!!

message 80: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl L | 36 comments I liked the infernal devices way better.

message 81: by J (new)

J I know the vast majority of people who finish both series say The Infernal Devices but I prefer The Mortal Instruments. Not sure why. Just something about it resonated with me more. Also... um... I have the weirdest, most uncalled-for crush on Sebastian AUGH I KNOW DON'T JUDGE ME.

message 82: by Abidan (new)

Abidan Cruz | 1 comments TID, even thoughh I liked the plot more in TMI, the characters in TID were fantastic

message 83: by Shadows (new)

Shadows n Secrecy (shadowsnsecrecy) | 50 comments The Infernal Devices. But they're pretty close. While the Mortal Instruments has a more driving plot and more action, the Infernal Devices is much more romantic and tearjerking.

message 84: by Alaa (new)

Alaa | 9 comments The Mortal Instruments. The infernal devices is really good too, but I don't really like the ideas of the people in the past (and their clothes;)).
