Murtagh's Ending (a rant)

Sherri: I agree, like I said earlier, he shouldve atleast done something HUGE then went away like killed Galbatorix, or helped rebuild all of Alagaesia, but him just leaving makes him seem like an emotional little girl.

Hahaha right on. I love Murtaugh, and maybe its just me but i dont think him and Nasuada was the right match. lol

Agreed. I feel Nasuada should do something like what the Autrach (or whatever) from the Shadowmarch series did; they have the autrauch, who is the main ruler, and a backup - the scotarch. If the autrauch dies, the scotarch rules until both are replaced, and if the scotarch dies then the autrach rules until a new ruler is decided on. The new autrach picks a new scotarch. This means that anyone who kills the atrauch can't rule because of the scotarch, and the scotarch can't kill the autrach because he'll be replaced. And there is always someone to backup the succesion.
But that's just what I think should happen.

I just read through them, and your right! We may as well call this thread; 'how should Alagaesia's political system work, and other WMG'

WMG? what's that?

He leaves because he and Thorn need time to heal and let their anger, not to mention the general ..."
Man, I totally agree here! I read the whole damn series in less than two weeks...and all for the super weak ending. NO questions were answered: who was Angela the herbalist, really? What about the weird old guy in the tower to whom Eragon gave Roran's staff? Where was the belt? I get a very strong feeling that these questions were all left unanswered as a setup to another cycle...who knows? Either way, I was waaaaaay sadder that Murtagh and Nasuada did not end up together than I was with Arya and Eragon...mostly because I totally expected that. The three books preceding Inheritance were great. Inheritance itself was a big space filler, to me.

Paolini excels in t..."
I AGREE! i was seriously happy there was another book so be happy there was another book and stop complaining about every dang thing in the book please

This is a dark kinda of magic, one, i still believe, is only learned from either Galbatorix, or Morzan.
Now, who would have been with either of those two for long enough, while secretly supplying the varden with information, without many of the varden knowing save for Brom?
Thats right! Eragon's Mother.
I believe that Angela is Eragon's mother
Brom never saw her when Eragon had his fortune fortold, and died before he made it to the Varden, so Brom and Angela would never have met during the time Eragon was in contact with Angela, so Brom could not have confirmed whether or not it was his mother.
I find this all very interesting.
I know she mentions that she learned alot of magic from the wandering fool in the tower between Dras Leona, but i think there is much more to it.
Anyway, thats my 2 Cents.
I'd love to hear your agreement or disagreements!

1. He had unnatural powers
2. Disgraced the Riders
3. Disgraced the dragon's Eldunardi

Vinylscratch52:
1. He had unnatural powers- Which he could have used to restore Alagaesia to its former glory.
2. Disgraced the Riders- if he swears his alligience, Im sure Eragon would forgive his own half brother. There are no other riders that may oppose him, and frankly, Glaedr can go insane for all I care.
3. Disgraced the dragon's Eldunardi"- insert apoligies and allience here, give up your true name to Eragon or Nasuada incase you get out of control, and STAY
Those are all just excuses, he could have stayed it Paolini wanted him to but he didn't. Dunno why.
Erik: That's clever! I see no reason as to how she would have been discovered. One question though, why did she fake her death and leave everyone? Why does she show no affection to Eragon if that's the case? Also, does Algela ever meet Murtaugh? that would be an interesting encounter.
SmoleforceOh God NO! As funny as that may be, I would much rather not read a bilion paged book with that sort of ending XD

Murtagh does meet Angela, in the first book, when he first gets to the Varden and is put in prison. She acts very strange about it, so im still pretty convinced Angela is there mother

argeed."
I also agree, i think Murtagh should have someone but not her.

Well since CP didn't say that was the last time talking about him, i think he's going to write a new book, ALL about Murtagh. In the last book CP said that he was going to revisit Alegasia and that new characters will be discovered. So I think that she ( "the one" ) will be in there. Me personally i have already thought of a girl for him because CP steals from other people. lolShe's like the perfect match for him but the worse at the same time. She makes him come out and be himself more.I like to think of her as Tornac's daughter. BOOOYAH! What do you think about that?

In my opinion, open war would have resulted if they hadn't left.

That being said, I do agree that Murtaugh left rather abruptly and his exit felt forced. I think more description/explanation than "I'm pissed at the whole world and need to work it out" is in order. That he has a lot going on in his head and needs to work it out is obvious, but it seemed that he was feeling some strong emotions there in the end and he just walked away from it without explanation. It was like he had a whole other story that we weren't told, and THAT was an unsatisfying ending to me. Really, there was no resolution for him. He just went away - and that seemed odd.
