Bug | 31 comments I liked this book too. Can't believe it took you so long to read it. LOL

Petra X (petra-x) I love all Jane Austen books, except for Northanger Abbey *yawn*.

Vicky | 62 comments I didn't like Northanger Abbey as well as her other books either. S&S is my second fovorite next to Pride & Prejudice.

I haven't read Northanger Abby. I'll have to let you all know once I have read it if I liked it or not.

Reggia | 15 comments It's an okay story and the movie was fun to watch, however the writing is so different from the wit of P & P (which I love) that they just can't be compared.

Petra X (petra-x) Northanger Abbey was a pastiche of the then currently-popular Gothic novels such as Udolpho. The heroine was the antithesis of the popular heroines of the day - plain, middle class and ordinary and a proto-feminist too. Its my least favourite Austen book but I also prefer the wit of S&S to the humour of NA.

Vicky | 62 comments Has anyone read Udolpho? My local library has it and I read it a couple years ago.

message 10: by Shelly (new)

Shelly (musshel) I absolutely love Jane Austen. Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensibility are my favorite.

Reggia | 15 comments Just wanted to clarify that my post in msg #7 was referring to Northanger Abbey. Sense & Sensibility was more than "okay" and one of my favorites of Austen.
