I've been meaning to read Anna Dressed in Blood since last year, glad its such a good read. As for Matched it's a BOTM in my mail goodreads group. I've heard that its blah from loads of people but I'm going into it with an open mind.

Yes, insanity is usually more fun - you can ignore reality!

Judy wrote: "Love the goofy eyes. Is that what your eyes look like after reading all day, JMom?"

My eyes are peacefully shut after a lot of reading. Those eyes come when dealing with my dogs. And I have a feeling they'll be like that all during the Toppler. ☺

Janice wrote: "Dang! Does that mean that we moderators are going to have to come up with iconic images? Who started this?"

Rusalka didn't know what she was starting :) And the other mods better choose their own quickly, or we'll have to choose one for you :D

You think thats bad, our library has 1,297 people on hold for our 221 copies. We have some that are in the Best Bets selection that are 1 week loans that aren't renewable but they don't have that many.

Kimberly | 2033 comments I picked up my hold of Life As We Knew It (Last Survivors, #1) by Susan Beth Pfeffer I borrowed it once before but didn't read it. My sister asked me to read it and tell her if it's something my niece would like. I have no idea why I have to read it first but whatever I think I may like it a lot.

How old is your niece, Kimberly? I read that one last year but wasn't madly enamoured with it, but I think it's a good YA read.

message 609: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 2033 comments She's 15 turning 16 we're only 6 years apart since there's a 15 year age gap between me and my sister. Apparently she wants me to try it out because my niece has autism (high functioning) and wants me to get a feel of whether its above her reading level or not.

It all started with the fascinators at Kate & William's royal wedding. Another group that I belong to was having a heyday with it and we were all posting pictures of weird hats. I even had that one s my avatar for a short time. It tickles my funnybone in a freaky-funny kind of way.

LOL! He's much too young for me, I'm afraid. If I could find an older version minus the beer belly many of the older versions have, I'd be introducing myself without the excuse (or expense) of a parking ticket.

Picture me sculking around the library, camera in hand, hiding behind bookshelves, and waiting for just the right moment to snap that perfect picture. :) I'll be like the little deer hiding behind a sapling and thinking he's invisible.

I really enjoyed Thunderhead. I listened to it on audiobook while I was driving through the mountains which gave it added atmosphere. This book is what turned me on to Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. I'm now making my way through the Pendergrast series.

I wanted to read the Pendergrast series so I figured I should start at the beginning. That's why got Thunderhead in the first place.

message 635: by Pam (new)

Pam Williams | 156 comments I got to go to a focus group for my library the other night and it was fascinating (and I got paid $75.) We talked about all that our library has to offer and I even learned a few things. Our library will mail you books if you are unable to get there on your own. We have a genealogy class that will help you do research on your family. We've just instituted a mobile site for our online catalog. They also sponsored a free music festival over the weekend. I love my library (and am on the waiting list for several new books being added to our catalog.) We also talked about how great our library is in buying books that are requested by patrons. Shout out to libraries everywhere.

Susan (chlokara) I just got home from the library, picking up The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker by Karen Thompson Walker, which was being held for me, and on the spur of moment picked up the audiobook The Finkler Question by Howard Jacobson by Howard Jacobson, which I had heard a lot about and which won the Booker Prize two years ago. Listening to FINKLER on the way back from the library to the office, very amusing so far.

Interesting Kimberly. When I was younger I would listen to a band from England that sang a song about Long Lankin. The band was Steeleye Span (you can google the lyrics). The song always intrigued me because the melody is so catchy and uplifting but the lyrics are literally murderous.

Will be curious to hear your thoughts on Long Lankin. I have added it to my tbr.

I won't be reading them all:) Just like for the Topplers and GTR, I like to have a variety to choose from for other group themed reads. I have nine on hold as possibilities for the Toppler, plus a few recent downloads, I'm getting prepared!
