What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I am 25 now and read this book somewhere around 92-97'. It doesn't necessarily have to have been geared to my age group because I read everything I could get my hands on at that age. The book begins with a toy maker type character stitching a bunny together. The bunny is substantial in appearance with blue overalls. Something happens and he has to escape the toy makers shop. He is attacked by large dogs, maybe dobermans? After that I get fuzzy. I know it involves an evil flapper doll that smokes, large toy wasps that are like some sort of sentries, and an evil male toy that when I think of him reminds me of Bela Lugosi's Dracula. I had lost the dust jacket some time ago. The book was a flat grey color with blood red ends to the pages in a horizontal format. I have searched for years for the title of this book. Any help or suggestions of any sort are greatly appreciated!
