whimsicalmeerkat | 126 comments Let me be clear from the beginning; this request is not for a child. It's for my boyfriend. No Franklin the Turtle books.

My boyfriend is obsessed with turtles. Obsessed. He's also hell on earth to shop for. I have most of his stuff, but need one more thing. Does anyone know of a book that has adorable pictures of turtles, along the lolcats/internet meme line?

Jasmine | 455 comments Okay this is not at all like lolcats but... it is the best book about turtles ever. Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories

as far as stuff that looks entertaining, although I don't see a lol-version
Confessions of a Swinging Single Sea Turtle: The Fourteenth Sherman's Lagoon Collection

however there is a website:

maybe you could like make a homemade book by printing out some pictures and doing like a simple binding. depending on your boyfriend he might think that was cute. I've done stuff like that for people before.

whimsicalmeerkat | 126 comments I actually found him a tshirt with Gamera (giant flying firebreathing Japanese turtle) on it, but thank you!

Jasmine | 455 comments ha! that sounds so fun!

lucky guy.

whimsicalmeerkat | 126 comments Gamera is in multiple Mystery Science 3000 movies and we've watching through them with a friend, typically while inebriated. It's fun stuff. Also, Amazon has some awesome stuff.

the only thing i can think of is that recently, with the success of Hungover Owls, this was also published: Animals with Hangovers: The Morning After Is Never Cute. i can look at work to see if there is a turtle in it, but it won't be turtle-heavy, i suspect...

The Year of the Turtle: A Natural History

this one doesn't look bad, although it seems to be more drawings than cute photographs. but it might have good writing content, coming from a naturalist.
