Well, maybe I am in a good spot to offer a comparison.
We had son number one in early-mid twenties and son number two was adopted at aged 9 years twenty two years later. I was a much better mother second time around Far far too strict the first time. Also a bit insensitive I am afraid. Teachers somehow often think our kids must be perfect. Second time was on the permissive side. No longer had unlimited energy so concentrated on the important things and let the details go. Both turned out fine - in spite of/or because of parents.

Teach for pleasure/charity. Much fun and much satisfaction. I did this for 8 yr. after retiring from teaching.

Work in a college library during the summer. Like being inside libraries and meeting others who introduce me to some writers and new topics.

I am currently closing all of the games until everyone in the group can start getting along. There have been too many personal attacks on members of the group and this will not be tolerated. I want everyone to gather their composure and remember that this is a way to make new friends, share common interests, enjoy books we've read and are going to read. When everyone can get along a little better I will reopen the games.

Sky dive! I did a simulated dive in a wind tunnel a few months back and that was thrilling! Hopefully I'll be brave enough for the real thing soon!
