Here’s a look at what we have scheduled so far:
January 2 – 29 - The Waves, by Virginia Woolf
January 16 – March 25 – In Search of Lost Time, Vol. 2, by Marcel Proust
January 30 – April 8 – Ulysses, by James Joyce
February 20 – July 22 – Writing and Difference, by Jacques Derrida
March 5 – April 15 – The Waste Land, by T.S. Eliot
Detailed reading and discussion schedules for these five books have been posted in their respective folders.
April 9 – June 10 – The Recognitions, by William Gaddis
June 11 – August 12 – Gravity’s Rainbow, by Thomas Pynchon
August 13 – October 14 – Hopscotch, by Julio Cortázar
October 15 – December 31 – Infinite Jest, by David Foster Wallace
Detailed reading and discussion schedules for these four books will posted in the future as we approach the reading dates for each. William Gaddis’ The Recognitions appears to only be available used right now. However, the Dalkey Archive Press is scheduled to release a new edition in early February, 2012. http://www.dalkeyarchive.com/
This is an ambitious amount of reading, with much overlap. There is no expectation for members to read all of these works, especially considering that we all belong to multiple reading groups and participate in various other group reads and reading challenges, etc. Feel free to pick and choose the books you really want to read and discuss.
Our first discussion will begin on Monday, January 2nd, 2012, with The Waves. Please join in if you can!
I wish all of you a happy holiday season and look forward to spending the new year reading and discussing these great books with you!
