Hi Valerie and welcome to the group. I think you'll find that you are in good company when it comes to series reading. I hate reading things out of order too. I read and liked the first few of the Sue Grafton series. I have a few more sitting here at home; I must get to them.
I've discovered Donna Leon recently. The first in the series is Death at La Fenice.
Wishing you a merry Christmas.

I grew up on Alfred Hitchcock and The Three Investigators and progressed to such authors as James Patterson, Anne Perry, Kathy Reichs, Linda Fairstein, Val McDermid, Michael Robotham and Steig Larsson. I love reading authors I haven't read before - currently I have P.D Martin and Jo Nesbo on my 'to read' list.
I'm also new to this group and I'm looking forward to some interesting discussions.
Welcome to all our new members. You are all in good company as many of us must read in order too.

That's really cool - I've wondered as I've read the books if she actually makes the recipes. I've never had the opportunity to meet any of my favorite authors. I would totally go to a book signing if given the chance!!

As a youth, I read Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys, Erle Stanley Gardner, etc.
I'm a little OCD - I have a thing where I have to read books from each author in the order they were published. I *hate* it when I read a book and find out it's a middle book of a series!
I read for pure entertainment. Some of my favorite authors include Michael Connelly, Michael Palmer, David Baldacci, and more!
I have recently enjoyed the Steig Larsson trilogy, and I am currently plugging away through all the Ross Macdonald Lew Archer books - which are quite good, actually!
My "lighter" reads (I use quotes because almost everything I read is probably considered fluff by some people, lol) include the Sue Grafton alphabet series, the culinary mysteries of Diane Mott Davidson, and the occasional chick lit. :-)
Look forward to "meeting" you!
Valerie
