Sallee (terrysallee2attnet) Just finished Moonrise by Cassandra King, a southern gothic story which is great and The Small Hand and Dolly (2 novellas in one book) by Susan Hill. Great ghost stories told in the English manner by the women who wrote the The Woman in Black which was made into a movie.

Sallee (terrysallee2attnet) I am now reading Carole Radziwill's book The Widow's Guide to Sex and Dating. I am about a third through and am finding it a very good novel. For those who guilty pleasure is watching the Real Housewives, in this case, New York, this is the book that they are fighting about. Radziwill's credentials are impeccable so I don't think she had a ghost writer.

I just finished William Shakespeare's The Empire Striketh Back and enjoyed it as much as the first book, William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, a New Hope. The story itself is a lot of fun, but the illustrations make it even better :)

I'm listening to The Wise Man's Fear, which is about 43 hours long. I'm almost halfway thru, it's very long but well worth it.

Janice (jgcappell) Life of Pi by Yann Martel Hi! I am more than half-way thru "Life of Pi." By author, Yann Martel. Life of Pi It starts out somewhat slow and a little bogged down.. However, once the adventure begins it is riveting! Imagine being the lone human survivor of a large cargo ship that went down in the open waters of the Pacific.
The ship had wild animals on it that were being transported to American Zoos. A Bengal Tiger also survived and made his way to the life boat. My heart is definitely pounding at many parts of this adventure.

I listened to this book when it first came out and was amazed and at times horrified by it. I was working in my garden while listening to it and at one point shouted, "Make it stop, make it stop!!!!" Fortunately I live in a neighborhood where no one can hear me.
It is well worth finishing it. It is fantastic.

Donna | 133 comments Time to get the winter weight off, so I am reading The Sugar Smart Diet. A lot of what I read I already knew, and the diet is similar to South Beach etc, but this book also gave wonderful ways of curtailing cravings and changing eating habits. I'm actually enjoying the book and the diet.

Sallee (terrysallee2attnet) I just finished Born in Fire, book 1 of the Irish Born Trilogy and am reading the second Born in Ice. I don't usually read many romances but these are interesting and have kept my attention.
Also reading a mystery by James Lee Burke, Light of the World. A cozy this is not as his Dave Robicheaux books are violent and gritty. I love his characters.

Nancy, I just finished A Reason to Live (Marty Singer #1) by Matthew Iden and was highly surprised what a good read it was and how well I thought it was written. The plot was well-paced and had lots of twists and turns. Although the main character is a tough ex-cop, the author shows a touching side as he learns to cope with a recent diagnosis that causes him to accept help from his young client. Thoroughly enjoyed every chapter and was a nice change away from my cozies.
