I'm just starting The Burning Bridge, the second book in the Ranger's Apprentice series. I've really been getting into fantasy lately.

The Girl On The Train. This is a great read. I barely put the book down as it sucks me into this story.

Michael (micky74007) Gone for Good Gone for Good by Harlan Coben

I have no idea where this is going--twists and turns like a snake with a bellyache.

That's one of very few of Coben's standalones that I liked. His standalones usually disappoint me to no end.

MadameZelda | 651 comments I am reading Dog Day Wedding by Rich Amooi to fulfill a book challenge. Very easy and humorous reading! It's written by a male author. The main character is male (which surprised me as the cover totally fooled me) who has had wedding troubles.

Kerri | 17 comments I'm reading Pride and Prejudice Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen . I tried to read it in high school but stopped, then I tried to read it again a couple of years ago but stopped again. Third time seems to be the charm. I'm having a good time reading it this time.

message 920: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I am working my way through Station Eleven right now. I have put it on hold for a while because I was cozy crazy. Does anyone else go through periods where they only read a certain genre? I am also trying to finish Dragonfly in Amber. This one is slow-going though

message 922: by Gayla (new)

Gayla Glass (gaylahambyglass) I have recently read the first two of the Not Quite Series by Catherine Bybee. I really enjoyed both. I will finish the series soon, but went on to Bayou Curse by Riley McKissack and also enjoyed it very Michael. I have decided on Legal Ease by Lori Ryan next.

I loved Station Eleven and hope you do too!

I definitely go through phases. Right now I'm into 4 different series (2 mystery and 2 fantasy) and I really don't care about anything else :)

message 926: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Todd Tonight I will begin reading The Supremes At Earl's All-You-Can Eat by Edward Kelsey Moore. I've had this book in my TBR pile for quite some time, but have been consumed by reading cozies. I decided to switch up and read this well-reviewed piece of fiction.

message 927: by Penny (new)

Penny (veteran1976) | 143 comments Just finished reading I, Alex Cross (Alex Cross, #16) by James Patterson . This is the Patterson book I've ever read. I love the short chapter format but this was way too graphic for my taste although it was a good story. A friend of mine recommended the Women's Murder Club series. Still great writing but not at all as graphic as the Alex Cross novels. Looking forward to trying one of those.

message 928: by Tina (new)

Tina McCright (tinamccright) | 32 comments I'm listening to James Pattetson's 2nd Chance the second woman's murder club book. I enjoyed both books I listened to in the car.

message 929: by Tina (new)

Tina McCright (tinamccright) | 32 comments This section was What Are You Reading Besides A Cozy? If you skim when reading like I do, titles are easy to miss. The Woman's Murder Club (I believe that is what he calls it.) is a good female detective series that isn't too graphic in the violence, but I would not consider it a cozy.

Melodie (melodieco) Gail wrote: "I don't think of Patterson as a cozy. Am I wrong? ..."

Patterson isn't cozy, but this is thread is called "What are you reading BESIDES a cozy".

Sallee (terrysallee2attnet) Finished At Water's Edge by Sara Gruen and it was a pleasure to read. A different time, a different and enchanting place and different classes of people some of whom are good, some bad, and some just ugly acting.

message 940: by Sallee (new)

Sallee (terrysallee2attnet) I am now reading A Touch of Stardust by Kate Alcott which takes place during the filming of GONE WITH THE WIND. Interesting insight to the golden age of Hollywood and its stars. Although fiction, the author has brought the characters to life. A fun read.
