No James Patterson's series is more of a Women Detective series and I would put his books with Mystery and Crime. I have read the entire series and they are really well done.

I've read several of these and thought they were all fun reads!

Right now I am reading Virgin River Series Temptation Ridge
I am working through The Mill River Recluse(just purchased 2nd book)

Your rating system is exactly the same as Goodreads.

I finally finished Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns. I had a lot of issues with this book. It was just an ok read for me. It's described as a classic tale of small town life in the South and set in the early 1900s.
Reading this coincidentally while also reading The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration, I moved back and forth between an idyllic coming of age story from the POV of a young white boy and a recounting of the terrors of life for 'colored people' during that same time period.

I don't often rate a book 1 star, but if it's that bad I will. And I usually attach a review as well to say why I rated it 1-star.

A friend loaned this book to me. Thanks for the reminder. It seems timely amid the current political environ.

I recently finished

- three novellas that take place about a century before A Game of Thrones. I'm currently reading
, which has some very inventive stories.

Margaret's post form 11/24/15:
I've broken out my stash of Christmas books and have started with A Season of Miracles by Heather Graham. It never fails to put me in the Christmas spirit. Next up,I think, will be Mary Higgins Clark.
A Season of Miracles
Is it weird that I read these books over and over, year after year? My husband thinks so, but they make me so happy!

Margaret, I think if it makes you happy and gets you in the holiday spirit then your husband should be glad :) Isn't there some saying about a happy wife makes for a happy husband?

During the hectic holiday season, it's nice to take a poetry break, and John Keats' poetry is outstanding!

I've read most of Jackson's other books, and I have to add this to my tbr.

I'm listening to
The Girl in the Spider's Web, a continuation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. I'm enjoying it more now that Lisbeth Salander is more involved in the story. It felt like something was missing when she was on the periphery.

I was drawn to the book when I had my accident last month and suffered a brain bleed and broken hip when I fell. I saw Will Smith on the Ellen Show and became interested in the concussion discussion. I am now very interested in reading anything I can get my hands on about the head and brain.
Anyone have any recommendations on the subject?
Thanks,
Mary W

I don't normally read Nora Roberts, except for the In Death books she writes as J.D. Robb, but read these a few years ago. Really liked the first one and the last one was pretty good. Hated the 2nd one and the 3rd one was almost as bad!
