What are You Reading Besides a Cozy?

Did you finish on time? I always feel I'm behind on at least one group book read.

I finished the book last night. I enjoyed it very much. It was a fascinating behind the scenes look at Tiffany's back in the summer of 1945. Wow, the luxury & glamour! It was interesting to read about the life of women during wartime. Some of the things that Marjorie & her friend Marty got themselves into were very amusing. The cheesecake scene is especially funny, IMO. Reading the book makes me want to schedule a trip to New York to visit that Tiffany & Co. store and see how much things have changed in the past 60+ years. A very enjoyable & quick read that I would recommend!

This sounds really fun. Why are all these ebooks coming out to taunt me? :(

I love this series! =)

I am now reading

I'm reading
, which is based on real life events. It's really good, but sometimes hard to read knowing that three of the sisters end up dead.

I loved this book. But, I'm concerned - how often do you put your hand on a hot burner? LOL

Seldom when I'm reading. Too big a risk, apparently! :-)

I LOVED her Big Cherry Holler series! Have you read it? Wondering how it compares.

I read it before either Lucia, Lucia or the "valentine" books. I liked Big Cherry Holler a lot, and in fact turned a friend of mine on to this author because of them. But the BCH books come second with me to either Valentine or Lucia. Lucia was my favorite read of 2011. I liked BCH better than The Queen of the Big Time though, and I haven't read either the Viola series, or Rococo or The Shoemaker's Wife yet.
I'm about halfway through The Shoemaker's Wife and I don't like it as much as the others. It's too long - 475 pages - and I've had to stop several times because I get so frustrated with Enza's relationship with Ciro. I hate seeing women who are strong enough to survive and make something of themselves, but who are so weak/wimpy/phhhtttt with the 'love of their life'.

My sister told me about it. I like cozies so it isn't my style. But just for kicks I stood beside the bestsellers rack at the library and read the last 2 chapters. Glad I skipped it. ;)

I'm glad it worked out for you, but if you'd liked the end? I can't imagine reading the ending of a book, I let the first few chapters decide for me. When my sister was reading a lot of cozies, she would always read the ending to see if she wanted to keep reading, even if it was a book she liked so far. It drove me insane.

I NEVER read the ending first. It always drove me crazy when people do that. Last time she recommended a book I was so disgusted I didn't make it past the first few chapters. It was The Snowman

OK, now I don't blame you for reading the end, but I do blame your sister for telling too much. A big pet peeve, people who tell you what happens in a book and still expect you to read it.
Well, I hope you find books you like here, and that no one gives away too much :)

I've been seeing this on Amazon lately and have been so tempted, but I'm not ready to pay $12.99 for a Kindle book yet when there are so many free ones out there. Did you finish?

This was my favorite in the series. The series was SO George Orwellian.
