Cindy (cindyjade) | 72 comments So I just finished the first Darkyn novel by Lynn Viehl.... its been in my TBR list for forever and I wanted to start an unread series while I'm on break!
However... I'm just not sure how I'm feeling about this one. I was confused thru a bit of it, and when I finally caught up and got interested, it was pretty much over. And no resolution to the H/H pair up... which I thought was odd. ANYWAYS what I am really asking is if I should soldier on - if they're worth it- or if I should pick another series to read during my precious break :)
Thanks y'all!

Cindy (cindyjade) | 72 comments For example I also have the first of JR Ward's Fallen Angel series and Singh's Guild hunter series, as well as the newest of Mead's Dark Swan series. Should I just switch to one of those?

Carolyn F. I like the Darkyn books but I can't read them in a row because most of the heroines drive me crazy. So, read them about every 3-4 months apart. I loved the Dark Swan book, that's my vote for the next one you should read.

Melissa I found I only liked every other book in the Darkyn series. Lots of build up over many books makes a few of the books enjoyable and a few unbearable. I agree with Carolyn F, spread the reading out and move on to the Dark Swan books!

☽ Rhiannon ✭ Mistwalker ☾ (pnr_list) | 133 comments I couldn't get into the first Darkyn book. I might give them a shot another time but I couldn't deal with the hero, who wasn't "romantically broody and alpha" but more "misogynist jerk" to me. Not to mention, if your other options are Ward and Singh (and Mead), then I would go with them, they are in my top ten favorite authors.

Toni (faerimplicationstoni) | 1 comments I have to confess that I felt similarly when I read the first Darkyn book. A bit distanced from it, like it was entertaining but not truly spectacular and gripping. There was a bit of a 'huh' reaction through it... However I have to say I feel that way even 8 books into the series. I like them, that much is true, but I'm not sure I'd say they're 'wonderful'. They are worth continuing, in my mind, but they aren't a 'favorites' list entry.

Laura Beagle | 3 comments I agree with the recommendation of the Singh series Guild hunter and would recommend her Psy-Changeling series. You might try Lara Adrian's Breed series. Liked almost all of them. But like most of you, I only liked a few of the Darkyn books.

Cindy (cindyjade) | 72 comments thanks guys! I actually have taken a break long enough to read the newest of the Dark Swan series... not sure when I'll pick up the Darkyn again. I have read the Psy/changeling series, laura, and they're one of my faves, I just haven't read any of Singh's other series. Good to know that y'all praise them as well :).
I also have read and enjoyed the Breed series (except the newest one). Same with Ward: have read the BDB books but not the others. Thanks everyone for the help!
