Wanda (joeysnana) | 76 comments I simply can't remember the last book that made me laugh out loud the way 50 Shades has. I guess the people who are bashing it are those that don't have a true appreciation for sarcasm. There were a lot of complaints about the "inner goddess," but that really is some funny stuff.

I enjoyed all three books, but Darker was my least favorite...for the reasons you stated :)

Judith Post | 391 comments Might these put off and read a few other books first. My daughter wasn't crazy about the first one, but bought the second one. She's usually a fast reader, but she's not whipping through that one either.

Have you seen Katrina Lumsden's reviews of the Fifty Shades series? They're hilarious! You can find 'em right here at Goodreads.

Saw them. They actually made me want to try the books just to see if they're that bad. And it's actually her review of Freed that makes me reluctant to read it.

Russell Bittner (russell538) | 53 comments Stefanie,

Well, to each, his (or her) own.

I'll say no more. I pretty much thought Katrina had said (and said it quite amusingly) for all of us.

Russell

message 467: by Tracy (new)

Tracy Tucker (tracyhtucker) | 5 comments Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James

I'm reading Fifty Shades (finally). I've read a lot of "holy craps" and references to Ana flushing :) ... got to some action around p. 80 in the elevator when he kissed her. Many of my friends have read all three and say the storyline gets better (except for one friend who stopped at the first one), and I have heard mixed reviews on reactions to the sex scenes, so my curiosity is piqued :).

Donna Galanti (donnagalanti) | 29 comments Just finished A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick and am conflicted about it. It's beautiful and lacking and unbelievable all at the same time. Set in the early 1900s. Hmmmm.... A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick

message 490: by Donna (new)

Donna Galanti (donnagalanti) | 29 comments Just started A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard and haunted by the true story of this woman who endured so much as a child into adulthood. It's written from her memory as an 11 yr old so even more poignant and awful in its detail. A story that I cant even imagine happening in real life. A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard
