OR, Oklahoma’s economy is primarily based on agriculture and energy production (Oil, Natural Gas, Wind), and the largest cultural influence is Native American – in fact, the name Oklahoma is derived from the Choctaw words for “red man”. So, choose a book that involves farming or ranching, the energy field, or has a Native American character or theme.
4. US Coast Guard Day – August 4: Read a book in which at least one main character is in (or recently discharged from) the military, or a book set on or near the water.
5. Sister’s Day and Friendship Day – August 5: Read a book where a sibling or a best friend play an important role in the storyline.
