1. Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices #1) by Cassandra Clare
Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare.
I absolutely LOVE The Mortal Instruments series so this series set back in the past, The Infernal Devices, is a nice way to read two series at once that tie in with each other.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer.
I will say right off the bat that I am going to go crazy waiting for book number 2 in this series!!! An unexpected twist on the fairytale Cinderella with cyborgs, a race of people who live on the moon and have incredible powers, a prince unprepared to rule, cyborg racism, and evil queen, and a plague that threatens Earth.

It has a few predictable things within the storyline but that could not ruin this book for me. I urge you to read it!

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare.
Well I am finally caught up with The Mortal Instruments but it is safe to say that this book wasn't as great as the others in the story. I am going to take a guess that she is putting a lot of energy into The Infernal Devices but am going to pray that City of Lost Souls will be good when it comes out!

Destined by P.C. and Kristin Cast.
Caught up now with the main House of Night series so just need to read the spin-off novellas! I thought this book was a lot more exciting finally than the last few published. Couldn't stop reading the thing! Absolutely loved the ending as well. :)

Ellysa | 31 comments Somehow I am working reading around Skyrim :)

5. Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis
Across the Universe by Beth Revis.
This book made it easy to actually set aside my love of Skyrim and inhale each page as if I couldn't get enough. Across the Universe was astonishing! I don't think I have enough strength to even wait for the second installment A Million Suns (Across the Universe, #2) by Beth Revis for any longer and it just came out four days ago. The way the chapters are written are enough to keep me reading longer than I actually realize and it was completely full of suspense. Well, A Million Suns, here I come!

Ellysa | 31 comments Well school is taking more of my time than expected! Now I have to stay up until 3am on weekends in order to read! :P

6. A Million Suns (Across the Universe, #2) by Beth Revis
A Million Suns by Beth Revis

I enjoyed the first book a little more, but this one was still pretty good. I didn't want to put it down! The main characters got a bit annoying but I expect that with every book I read for the most part. Usually I call the major "twist" in books but this one caught me by surprise. Can't wait for the third book in the trilogy!

Ellysa | 31 comments 7. Bossypants by Tina Fey
Bossypants by Tina Fey

I always have loved Tina Fey, and was an avid fan of Saturday Night Live. She has become a star and she comes off as extremely humble and grateful for it, like she can't believe it is really happening to her. Even after all of these years, it's more about growing up and parenthood. I listened to the audiobook and I believe it wouldn't have been any better if I read it myself, because I am able to catch her tone just the way she wrote it. Great read!!!

Ellysa | 31 comments 8. American Gods by Neil Gaiman
American Gods by Neil Gaiman

I understand some might say this is an amazing book, Gaiman's "best" book yet but I will have to disagree... or at least hope to disagree. My first Gaiman book (I was soooo excited) but it gave me a headache, sitting up at night trying to just read a few pages before throwing it to my nightstand in boredom. I felt so disconnected from the characters and the book in itself. I didn't want to give up on it, thinking that it would get better.... and then it ended. Not for me

A Chalice of Wind by Cate Tiernan

I heard that the last book in this series kinda ruins it, but for now I am quite enjoying the series. Makes me want to read the Sweep series all over again. If only I weren't missing one of the books!

This is a book that I always feel I *should* be reading, but can't get motivated enough to actually read it!

Ellysa | 31 comments 10. Fated (Soul Seekers, #1) by Alyson Noel
Fated by Alyson Noel

I got this book from a Goodreads giveaway and I can say it was a pretty good book (so I finally thought near the end.) There was too much detail in some parts but not enough where it mattered. I felt like the characters weren't real in their reactions and couldn't connect. Maybe next book?

message 12: by Ellysa (new)

Ellysa | 31 comments 11. Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) by Cassandra Clare
Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

I rather enjoyed this book, seeing as how I was not too amazed by City of Fallen Angels. I have a feeling I was right about Clare putting all of her efforts into the new series. That works for me since I am becoming a bigger fan of the storyline and plot of this series a lot more.

Ellysa | 31 comments 12. Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth
Divergent by Veronica Roth

There are no words to express how much I love this book. Hunger Games pales in comparison in terms of dystopian novels for me. Tris may have been the one character I have connected with the most in any book I have read. Got this book done in a day, staying up until 7am to read it.

America: A Narrative History (Vol. 1)- Eighth Edition
by George Brown Tindall and David E. Shi

I believe I can put this down as a book for the challenge, since I had to read the whole thing for History class in college. I have never been good at history but since this book was written as a story I actually understood it all. I'm pretty glad I was forced to read it. :)

Oooo! I have been wanting to get my hands on this book for awhile! I'm glad that it is good, I just might have to splurge and order it on Amazon. Same with Divergent, every one has been buzzing about it and you reviewed it highly also. :D

Oh I would definitely recommend them both! I finished Divergent in two days (stayed up til 7am this morning to finish it and sleep in the rest of the day). About to start reading Insurgent, as I couldn't wait any longer to read the next!

Cinder was amazing, I actually believe I will read it again before the second one comes out. It's such a twist that I never even imagined before. Check it out!

Ellysa | 31 comments 14. Long Drive Home A Novel by Will Allison
Long Drive Home by Will Allison

I got this book from a Goodreads giveaway. The book is a confession book and I had never read one before. I now realize it is not my kind of story. The book itself was alright but I just could not connect to the characters in any way, they made no sense to me in the way they acted. The only character I could almost connect with was the lead's daughter and that is only because her actions made sense to me. I am sure this book would br good for someone else but it is just not my kind of story I guess. I will say that the writing made the book easy to follow and it flowed nicely so that even though I wasn't a huge fan of the story, it wasn't an unbearable read.

I can't even explain how much I am in love with this series. I am going to die waiting for the third one to come out!! This is far from Hunger Games and it makes me wonder why anyone ever compared them to be alike.

Batman and Robin (The New 52)

I am going to put down a new 52 every time I read 10 issues of a certain one. So far I read the first 10 of these, which are absolutely AMAZING!

Ellysa | 31 comments 17. Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green

Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan

I listened to the audiobook on this one, as someone mentioned I just HAD to listen to it over reading it and I am so glad I got that recommendation! This is one of the best books I have ever listened to. The readers really fell into their characters and they sang! I mean it doesn't get better than the readers singing "Summer of Gay" to you while on a daunting drive to work.

The story was also pretty amazing. The two characters were split evenly through the book with their own chapters and separate readers and both written by the two different authors. I hope to listen to this again someday :)

Ellysa | 31 comments 18. I Am America (And So Can You!) by Stephen Colbert

I Am America (And So Can You!) by Stephen Colbert

What can I say? I love Stephen Colbert. I feel sorry for the people who will never get this book because they don't know it is highly satirical. I am glad that he narrated it because it would not have been the same at all if he hadn't. If anyone is looking for a funny read to not take seriously, I would definitely suggest this!

I finally got around to reading vol #10. I was never a fan of Wonder Woman until now...now I just wanna cosplay the shit out of this version! She's amazing.

I wanted to read these books when I was little, and never got around to it. In preparation for teaching elementary school, I decided to listen to these books on audio while on my daily commutes and must say that I actually enjoy them as an adult! Listening to them is quite fun, and keeps me very entertained.

I definitely added this New 52 to my comic box. The flow in it is sometimes a bit off for me but the series itself is magnificent.

Aquaman (The New 52)
