Johanna | 766 comments You don´t have to have a certain order for them. Some don´t even have any lists to start with, they just add as they finish reading a book :)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments Great! Thanks :)
I have a lot of books to sort through. That's not even counting e-books.

I did enjoy it. Some parts made me laugh out loud. It did come across a bit preachy at times.

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments I finished 11/22/63! That book should count as at least two, don't you think? lol

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments Sara wrote: "How are you doing with your challenge so far this year?"

According to the little tracking thingamajiggy I am 1 book behind. That's not too bad. I hope to catch up quickly. 11/22/63 was massive.

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments Well, I finished another one :)

Preachy in what way? I've been meaning to read it as well.

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments The Hot Zone is definitely a stand out book. It is fascinating and terrifying at the same time.

message 12: by Nidia (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments I finished Jane Eyre :)

message 13: by Nathan (new)

Nathan (nthnlwly) How'd you like it? I want to read that soon.

message 14: by Nidia (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments Trevor wrote: "How'd you like it? I want to read that soon." I found that the pace picked up more towards the last chapters. I enjoyed it even though it took me a couple of months to read it lol.

message 15: by Nathan (new)

Nathan (nthnlwly) lol, alright good! Glad you liked it. I tried to start it and got stuck and quit about half way through page one. haha xP Maybe I'll give it another shot!

message 16: by Nidia (last edited Jun 19, 2012 05:14PM) (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments I finished Northanger Abbey. What a thoroughly enjoyable book! This is only my second Austen book. I read Pride and Prejudice many years ago. I think I'll try Mansfield Park next time I'm in the mood for Austen.

message 17: by Kara (new)

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments I'm on Persuasion now--it's lovely. I keep meaning to read more Austen. Maybe we can do an Austen buddy read some time.

I would love to do a buddy read :)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments I finished Fifty Shades Darker. It is what it is folks. It's light, fluff, entertainment. Sure it could be better written and the characters never really develop and grow but it's summertime dang it! I just want something fast and easy to read.

message 20: by Nidia (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments I finished Heat Wave by Richard Castle. If I could, I'd give it a 2.5/5. It read like a really, really, really long episode of Castle but not as smartly written. If you are a really big fan of the show, I guess these books would be fun to have in your collection. Frankly, I have no interest in reading the rest of the Nikki Heat series.

lol. Good point. :)

message 22: by Nidia (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments I finished The Great Gatsby. A good novel? Yes. The great American novel? I don't know about that. But at least I got another classic under my belt.

message 23: by Nidia (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments I finished And Then There Were None. I can't believe I've gone all my life without reading Agatha Christie. I will be reading more of her work for sure.

I love Agatha Christie! One of my favorite authors, that's for sure. :D

Then There Were None sounds very familiar...

It's a very popular one.

message 27: by Nidia (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments I finished Of Mice and Men. I gave myself a challenge within the 2012 Reading Challenge. I decided to read classics that were never assigned to me in school but almost everyone seems to have read during the course of their academic life. I was not assigned Of Mice and Men; I was assigned The Red Pony instead. I was never assigned Jane Eyre. I was assigned Wuthering Heights by the other Bronte sister. The Great Gatsby was not assigned to me even in my American Lit class. So I am glad to catch up with the rest of the world :)

message 28: by Nathan (new)

Nathan (nthnlwly) What did you think of Of Mice and Men?? I read it a few months ago too (was never assigned it in school either for some reason, or Jane Eyre, or The Great Gatsby, so we're in the same boat, you and I!). I wasn't too impressed but I was glad to cross a classic off my to-read list!!

message 29: by Nidia (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments I too was glad to cross another classic off my list. I enjoyed the story but it was not what I expected. I didn't even realize it was that short. I guess I was expecting something more like East of Eden.

message 30: by Nathan (new)

Nathan (nthnlwly) Yeah, I was surprised by the length as well. Classics are sometimes so long and it turns me off of them immediately.

message 31: by Nidia (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments I finished The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. This is my first Hercule Poirot novel. I loved the mix of characters and the dialogue was smart and witty. Great plot twist! Next up is Insurgent by Veronica Roth.

message 32: by Nathan (new)

Nathan (nthnlwly) Will you read more Agatha Christie, Nidia?? She is one of my favorite authors!

message 33: by Nidia (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments Hi Trevor. Yes I will read more Christie. I already have Sparkling Cyanide waiting in the wings. I have that book in spanish. It will be interesting to see how her writing style translates.

message 36: by Nidia (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments One book to go :)

message 37: by Nathan (new)

Nathan (nthnlwly) WOO! :D Go Nidia!

message 38: by Nidia (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 103 comments I finished Most Talkative by Andy Cohen. I like humorous autobiographies and this one is very enjoyable if you are a pop culture geek (and I am).
This completes my reading challenge for 2012. Bring on 2013 :)
