Sally (sallybell) | 25 comments The Wicca series by Cate Tiernan: http://www.goodreads.com/series/42066... has a note saying that the series has also been re-published under alternate names. However, I just noticed that someone's gone and made a new series entitled Sweep: http://www.goodreads.com/series/65307... with the first eight books, though I know all fifteen have been released under this name.

Basically, it's the same series under two names. Should it therefore only be listed once, with the note to say it's AKA something else? Or if a series is renamed, DOES it then deserve to be listed twice? Even though the books are identical... :/

Sandra | 31414 comments The question really becomes under which name will it be searched for? If both, then both should stay.

It's not taking up that much room in the database and really it just becomes cross-referencing like in a physical library.

Actually, the main question is what name has the author given it. The other name should go in the description field, not be listed as a second, identical series.

Sally (sallybell) | 25 comments According to the editions I read, the first title was Wicca and then it was repackaged as Sweep and all the other names in other countries... no idea why, though!

Ok, but what does the author call it on her site now?

Sally (sallybell) | 25 comments Seems to be Sweep now, having a bit of a gander. Maybe Wicca was too obvious... *ponders*

Or invited lawsuits, or offended readers, or something.

But we generally go with the author's official series name, when there is one.
