I’m trying to find a few books that I’ve read before, but I simply can not remember their names. From what I remember and written down I hope that someone else recognises these books and can tell me what their titles are!
The first book I think indirectly involves fallen angels, who own a range of devices/instruments. One of these has fallen into human hands; I remember the main character being a girl who is able to use this instrument (which is used on the head to affect the mind?). The girl uses it on her friend, who I think is an Asian boy with a stutter. The instrument cures his stutter, and gives him more confidence. Someone else wants to take the instrument from the girl.
The second book that I’m looking for is based on the idea of the monster in the closet/Boogeyman. Basically a boy’s closet is like a portal where a man (possibly an evil magician?) appears. There’s also a beast/monster and the man keeps asking the boy to tell the beast to go away. It turns out that the beast was there to protect the boy from the man, and that only the boy could order the beast away.
