Sharon Reddy | 80 comments I have a total of ten reviews on my many books, five on one(one on Goodreads) and one each on five others. All but one are four or five stars, the most recent a five-star on Platinum Mind by a vine reviewer. I only asked for one of those reviews and it's a four-star.

I have read so many posts by readers who say they ignore five star reviews because "They're by friends and family." That's very hard on an author who has worked to make books the best they can be and do get that acknowledgment from readers, especially when there's only one review. Those readers ignore the book with five stars and a 1 in parentheses behind it.

Below is the search link to find my books on Goodreads. If you choose a book to read, I'll send you a copy. I do need more reviews, of course, especially on Goodreads, but that isn't part of the offer.

Sharon I downloaded a couple of your books that were free on amazon near the holidays. It takes me a while but I'm planning on getting them read and reviewed at some point.

Sharon Reddy | 80 comments Thanks, Scott. I know how many of us there are who need them. I loaded my Kindle to help.

I know exactly how you feel. I, like you, have worked very hard for reviews from experienced bloggers and reviewers. I have not asked any friends or family to write reviews for me.

You should feel good about your accomplishment and be proud of each review.

The sentiment you are talking about is usually directed at self published authors and there is some truth to it. But it is unfair. Some people actually like our books - a lot.

Having worked in publishing previously, I can tell you that plenty of authors from big publishing houses have their friends write reviews on Amazon too.
