Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments @ Brett - I loved Bronze Horseman, but it is a long read, and the story doesn't end there...its a saga

message 552: by Lady Allison (new)

Lady Allison | 118 comments Finished Your Scandalous Ways (Fallen Women #1) by Loretta Chase - it was interesting enough to finish it but not as witty as I'd been hoping for. LK sets the bar pretty high on that scale, but I did enjoy trying a new author :) Thanks for the rec, Mandy!

Glad that you liked them; I know that I enjoyed both of them, too!

Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments Lady Allison: I finished Dreamfever on 2/19/12 and give it 5 stars. I have to read the next book to find out what happened. Holy Crap!

message 555: by Lady Allison (new)

Lady Allison | 118 comments YAY! That series is one of my favorites of all time, I'm glad you have them all so you can just go to the next one! :) Keep me updated on what you think of Shadowfever!

message 556: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11350 comments I finished Succubus Dreams today, and I think it might be my favorite of the series so far, although (view spoiler)

Thanks for the push to continue with the series, Dee!

Aww, bummer.

message 558: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 741 comments Fran,

I just finished reading Midnight Angel (Stokehurst, #1) by Lisa Kleypas and LOVED it! It wasn't at all what I was expecting by Lisa Kleypas. I've read her Hathaway series and it was humorous. That's what I expected here, but didn't get humor at all. I loved it just the same though :)

Thank you so much!!

message 559: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed it Susan (susayq) !

message 560: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i liked it, just not as much as sexiest man alive...and since I work with the FBI on occasion, i'm biased, because I know stuff doesn't go that easily...lol!

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments ditto here Karen...I finished that installment right before I started an 8 hour shift at work, and I was bitching about it all night to my co-workers...they just laughed

Thanks for the push to continue with the series, Dee!"

message 562: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mandypants) Hey, Dee- Well, I may have finally gotten back into the PIFM swing of things. I've read Lothaire, Between Sisters, The Endearment, and Mine Till Midnight. Now, if I can just get better about posting in a timely fashion. Thanks for the recs!

message 563: by Nancy H (last edited Feb 21, 2012 12:45PM) (new)

Nancy H | 1111 comments Nici, I just finished Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza. What an amazing story! This woman has a faith that is matched by few others in this world, and is all the more amazingly because she survived the genocide that ripped her country, Rwanda, apart.

Thanks for helping me get to this one and get it off my TBR pile!

message 564: by Tai (new)

Tai Odunsi (taiwrites) taken; but Cupid's Academy is the perfect, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy based on-- you guessed it--Cupid! Cupid's Academy Argus' Big Fat Greek Wedding Ring by Tai Odunsi Cupid's Academy The Miseducation of Mergatroyd, Love god in Training by Tai Odunsi

I hope it is as interesting...I still haven't been able to see it. I guess I will have to wait for the DVD!

message 568: by Lacy (new)

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments Debbie,

My aunt saw The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and she said that they did a pretty good job with following the story. She enjoyed the book and the movie. She said that the disturbing scenes in the book were super intense and disturbing in the movie.

message 569: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments Good to know, some of them were very intense that is for sure. I will have to put that on my queue when it becomes available. Thanks Lacy.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Even though my reading has fallen off to nothing, I finally finished my book for the month. Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5) by Chloe Neill Drink Deep was not nearly as good as the previous installment but I'm glad the series continues.

message 571: by Lady Allison (new)

Lady Allison | 118 comments Lacy, was your aunt talking about the American interpretation or the Swedish one? We just got finished rewatching the 1st 2 in order for the 3rd movie to make sense this weekend & I had forgotten how some of it is hard to watch. It made me wonder how Hollywood would portray it bc they tend to cop out of the really disturbing scenes in favor of making a bigger profit on a wider audience.

message 572: by Tuğçe (new)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) I have finished Trust in Advertising it was a sweet story, I had a nice time reading it although it was pretty predictable all along and full of chick-lit romance cliches, guess sometimes one needs reading fluffy.

message 573: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I'm not Lacy, but I was pleasantly surprised that hollywood didn't cop out...i was totally expecting a fade to black in some areas, but it wasn't...but then the director isn't a US'er, he's a new zealander and known for his dark, gritty stuff, so that might have helped

My aunt is talking about the American version that just came out last month. I would like to see both versions, but I need to read the last two books first! Let me know what you think of the Swedish version. =0)

message 575: by Sue (new)

Sue (knitwitsl) | 226 comments Gigi,

I tried to read Zoya, but I just could not get into it (I haven't read any Danielle Steel books). Then I finally got First Grave on the Right from the library last week and I finished it last night. I really enjoyed the book. So thank you for the recommendation!

message 580: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 46 comments Eva,
I finished Open Season and Isn't she sweet. I really like Open Season. In the beginning I didn't like Isn't She Sweet, but ended up liking it once I was finished with it.

message 581: by Cathy (new)

Cathy Galloway | 700 comments I finished Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #1) by Laurell K. Hamilton and I thought it was great! Urban fantasy is one of my favorite genres and this was an exciting example of one. I've been putting off the Anita Blake books just because I didn't want to start another series but I'm glad I read this anyway.

I don't know if I forgot at the beginning of the month but thank you for the lovely picks.

I have been reading through them--and forgetting to update--but I have finished a number of them.

Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance--amazing. Made me remember why I love him.

The Accidental Wedding--Anne Gracie is one of my favorites. I love how she mixes humor into it.

Lover Mine--Not exactly my favorite but it's still good. I don't think any of them will be able to replace Zsadist.

Lover Unleashed--Definitely not my favorite of the series but I liked it.

How are you enjoying The Trouble With Magic?"

Oh, Kimmy I am so sorry I recommended this book to you. I was very let down by the outcome and all the bits unresolved and the overall lack of grandness. There was so much random babble in the book I couldn't stay focused. I gave it 2 stars, closer to 1 1/2.
