It seem like on every site I visit the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is the topic du jour. Am I little late to the party in bringing it up here? Sure, but cut me some slack; I'm a Canadian on the sidelines of American politics. However, this does seem like an issue of international interest, at least if you're online much.

I'm guessing this group has authors and bit torrent users, and maybe even publishers in it's membership. Care to share your thoughts on the situation?

Finally, a topic even more controversial than audiobooks :)

So, you are not commenting because:

a) You've already ranted on this subject on every other social media site/ group you belong to

b) You don't read any posts in the general folder

c) You're waist deep in a Charlaine Harris novel

d) You're a bit torrent user and don't want to draw attention to yourself

e) You don't want to get more controversial than insisting that audiobooks should or should not count as reading

f) all of the above

:)

Ali | 118 comments Option B for me :D, personally I'm against it because it would affect Wiki. Yes I know that I shouldn't rely on that seeing as it's the users who can add and modify the posts but I'm addicted to it, it's my first stop every time I need any kind of info. I don't know what I would do without Wiki and also it affects FB. Although I'm not big on FB, I have to say it's useful to have FB around.

Donna | 1350 comments Comment? Hmmm....

1. Everyone talks about how bad big government is, but runs to the government to solve their problems. The movie/publishing industry has fretted about this issue for a long time. They certainly have access to the resources - both techological and intellectual - to solve it themselves, but why put in the effort when you can dump it on the government & taxpayers. You want to protect your property? Build your own damn fence.

2. No one in this country seems to get the irony of getting our government to use the same software that China uses to block internet access - and that our government derides the Chinese for doing.
