David (wahoowa) | 4 comments I'm really pleased Where Things Come Back won; it was in my personal top 5.

I'm surprised Chime didn't manage at least an honor and that A Monster Calls was snubbed by both the Printz and Newbery lists.

The Returning is the only Printz Honor I haven't read yet so I'll have to check it out soon.

Aneeqah | 6 comments I've only read one of these, and that The Scorpio Races! I've put holds on the other books at the library, so we'll see what I think of those.

Jan (janchief) | 4 comments The only one that I read was the winner. Have holds on the rest and can't wait to read them!

Anne Bennett (headfullofbooks) | 81 comments I was shocked by this list. But I really liked Jasper Jones and knew that is had winner-potential. I have since read Why We Broke Up and agree that it deserved an award. But Why We Broke Up wasn't even released until the end of December making it impossible to get on any Mock Printz lists unless someone had read an Advanced Reader edition. I felt ripped off by that. I will start on Scorpio Races this week. I am looking forward to it.

Cheri | 19 comments Hi all,

Just got to read Jasper Jones. I did think it was one of the best I read from last year, but just wondering how everyone else felt about the lack of characters with any faith. I thought some of the comments and the terms were offensive to Christians. Just wondering your thoughts.

Melissa (mlwl) | 9 comments I've only read The Scorpio Races & Jasper Jones so far, although the next one I'm reading is Why We Broke Up. I really liked Jasper Jones, and The Scorpio Races was completely enjoyable, but I don't think it was Printz-worthy. But then, not many of the books that I read new in 2011 were.
I found the lack of faith in Jasper Jones pretty realistic, actually. I can see how it might make some uncomfortable, but I think that's not unusual in YA literature right now.

No, we never made one as this started as just a way for some teachers who work together to post over summer...

Oh, I didn't realize it was a private-ish group."

Not private now! I just never went back and started a welcome board but you are, indeed, welcome!

Cheri | 19 comments Hi all,

Has anyone else read Drowning Instinct yet. Definately one of the best books I've read in the past six months. I'd love to see it on this list as a possible read - where do we put those?

Hi Cheri,
Put it in the general discussion area under Printz reading suggestions! I just created it!
