Ken Magee | 38 comments I'm thinking of creating a Twitter/Facebook/Goodreads account for Michael - one of the Dark Tidings main characters. He is IT/social media savvy, so he can also represent his fellow heroes. This will bring new, unpublished ideas into the public domain... but is it a good idea?

I've had the same thought for a few of my characters but was reluctant to do it for one main reason: I have a most likely unwarranted fear that some one else will steal my idea before it's published. I think most of the time though that authors have plenty of their own ideas. And I also like to think better of my fellow authors than to imagine them stealing someone else's idea for their own. But that's the main reason I haven't created any online accounts for any of my characters.

Nadria Tucker (nadriatucker) | 17 comments I've set up a twitter account for the main character in my upcoming YA novel. I've also got a domain for the book, which right now features just the Twitter, but soon will have more cover illustrations, the book trailer, and other news regarding the book. Scheduling the tweets was easy using Hootsuite. I think it's definitely worth doing!

Ken Magee | 38 comments Thanks for the comments... just to be clear, Dark Tidings is a published novel. My idea was that the characters shared 'what happens next' situations with the world.

I'm still in two minds. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
