THE Group for Authors! discussion

I'm no longer able to post on my GR blog. Whereas last week I could visit the last post and then click 'New Post' to add one, all I get now is a long page of posts and something re. 'Bookmarks' and 'Feeds' with no way of adding a new one. Any advice?

Ditto. I wish they wouldn't mess around with this! It's getting very frustrating! (Almost as bad as Facebook.)

Hi Lorna. I don't use Facebook, and wondered if my ineptitude here was due to a lack of social networking skills - glad I'm not the only one. Hopefully someone will post the solution (if there is one).

Just to say that it's back to normal today. Some glitch or other I guess...

I was directed to this group after broaching an issue with my GR blog at the GR Librarians group. Can anyone tell me how to insert a picture/image in one's blog entry? Is there merely a right-click copy-paste solution or...?

Hi Jessa, I've never done this, so have no idea how the following works, but if you go to make a new blog post you'll see a box on the right hand side with formatting instruction - below are the ones for 'image'.

img src="http://www.goodreads.com/image..." width="40" height="100" alt="description"/

(enclosed in the sideways v symbols)


(Width must be 0-400, Height must be 0-1000, alt is a description of the image. All three are optional, but recommended.)

You could use the preview to see what works though...

I did see that but to be honest still couldn't figure it out lol I was just wondering if someone could simply tell me how they've done it?

You'd have to host the image in another place (either by uploading it to your Goodreads Author profile or putting it on a site like Photobucket. Then you'd use HTML coding to add it (which Nell has posted).

I was thinking that some groups at GR have photo galleries, and that it might work if you uploaded the image to one of these first but forgot to mention it - sorry :(

It's good to know that it'll work with Photobucket (or Flickr?) though.
