Just for Fun :)
Pick one!

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare vs. Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices #1) by Cassandra Clare

If you want, tell why.

I love them both. But I would have to choose..........

The Mortal Instruments series!
Jace, Oh Jace. He is my freakin' love! :)

message 3: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) Mortal Instruments!

Because...I mean, TMI affected me SO much. I was an empty shell of nothing after I finished the first three books (before it was announced there would be three more). I was completely engrossed, addicted and just drawn into them. It took my heart, my emotions, everything in me and twisted it up and shocked me and made me sob and made me laugh, and it felt like my very soul had been shattered and taped back together.

So naturally, when Clare announced there'd be a prequel series, I was really excited. But I still love TMI more, because in the first book of TID, Will just felt like a carbon copy of Jace, and that really bothered me.

But man, reading Clockwork Prince right now, I still favor TMI over TID, but Will is no longer a carbon copy of Jace, hahah.

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) The Infernal Devices for me! I just move the victorian era so much. The clothes. The place. The time! WILL! :D ♥

Passant (cool_baby) | 32 comments i have not read the TID series yet, but i cant wait,it sound awesome :)

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) You'll enjoy it! :D

message 7: by Astoria (new)

Astoria (astoriamalfoy) | 31 comments The Infernal Devices, just because I enjoyed reading it a lot more. And while I love Magnus Bane and Alec, as well as Isabel, I pretty much don't care about Clary.

I loved Clockwork Prince, and while Clockwork Angel wasn't of my taste, it was still better than City of Fallen Angels, so yeah, I hated City of Fallen Angels, almost as much as I loved City of Glass.

Will I read the next MI book? Yes, but just because Alec and Magnus make some power couple. And Isabel is now kind of serious with Simon.

And I LOVE TID series, because Will's great sin is loving Jem, I mean how can I not choose Will, when he has been alone, and letting himself have so little because of what happened when he was 13?

I love Him, and as much as I love Jace, Will in my book, is a better character, that and Tessa's love for both boys will make me crave more. This is a real love triangle.

I mean, I choose Infernal Devices.

message 11: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) Oh goodness. Yeah. I just finished Clockwork Prince. And while TMI as a whole did my damage to my heart, I don't know if I'll be able to even heal in the slightest from what I've just read in the last six hours, alone in my room.

I mean...my soul. Oh my goodness goodness goodnessssssssss.

SERIOUSLY, I SHOULD GO TO BED BUT MY HEART WILL NOT ALLOW ME.

Not a cliffhanger, the whole book is just amazing, the book as a whole makes you crave more. I devoured it, and I disliked Clockwork Angel.

i think i get what you mean, i think it is the way the author makes the books irresistible and addicting :) at least thats my opinion from TMI

message 16: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) Yeah, it's not so much a cliffhanger as a "WHAT HAS JUST HAPPENED WE NEED TO FIX THIS RIGHT AWAY OH MY GOODNESS WHATKIWEJURIENHRMNKINV H" sort of feeling.

Emilie, I could fall asleep for like, an hour! By the time my stomach had settled enough to let me sleep, it was like, five in the morning! Some part of me wishes I hadn't discovered TID until all the books were out, like with the first three TMI books. *throws self against wall* I'm like...numb.

Astoria (astoriamalfoy) | 31 comments i think i get what you mean, i think it is the way the author makes the books irresistible and addicting :) at least thats my opinion from TMI.

I think TID has the potential to be better than TMI, just because it truly is a love triangle. Is not a girl caring for 2 boys in different ways, is a girl who loves 2 boys, and 2 boys that love her and they also love each other as family. For Will before Tessa, there was just Jem. So its heart wrecking.

message 18: by Passant (new)

Passant (cool_baby) | 32 comments damn, it is a love traingle, i dont do well with love triangles, my heart doesnt work well with that especially i get really mad if the girl ends up with the one i didnt want her to end up with, or sometimes not with either, i swear there was this story that the girl didnt end up with either and died a old lonely woman and i was like *curses*!!
better than TMI i m going crazy, i need to read the books ASAP, stupid library!!

The Mortal Instruments more...but the thing is I am more looking forward to the release of Clockwork Princess than City of Lost Souls...argh! Will :'( Jace :O Tessa :'( Clary :S Jem >:(

message 22: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Thomas (nidhithomas) | 23 comments bad boy in a sexy way ;) and Jem will it's not his fault Thalia..nor is Will's...they are caught up in there problems, they just didn't have time to notice anything :( it is awfully sad

message 23: by Arushi (new)

Arushi (arushilisa) I'm so torn between Jem and Will! 352 pages into Clockwork Prince, and I still can't decide!

bad things as you didnt like it? i just finished CoG, it was awesome! i was like so frustrated, happy and anxious in the same time! i couldnt leave the book alone i stayed awake until 7 in the morning to finish it !! i think it is the best of TMI

message 25: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) *induce Jem-related rant*
I advise you not to read unless you've read CP. (;

(view spoiler)

Passant, no, no, I LOVED Clockwork Prince. I think that's what hurts so much; that I can be so angry about what happened, and feel so many other things all at once, and still love the book so ridiculously much. It's amazing what Clare does to my soul with her writing.

Also, I'm glad you liked City of Glass! A perfect resolution! <3 Honestly, I wouldn't have been upset if there were only three TMI books. CoG was so wonderful and ended so beautifully. <3

i agree!! near the end, i was confused since i knew there was still one book left and 2 which are still coming out :S and it felt like she was ending it! i was so confused but happy i think if she hadnt done the things she did, i was going to go CRAZY!!
(view spoiler) hhehhe i think CoG affected me more than the rest, it seems that the series gets better with each book so i cant wait for CoFA!!!!!

message 27: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) Ahh, CoFA was kind of a letdown for me. :[ Since the drama (view spoiler), she was kind of floundering for a new plot and settled on Simon. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the first three, but I love the characters, so I'm not complaining, hahah.

so which was your fav. so far??

message 29: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (bookwormjenn) I pick The Infernal Devices. Mainly because I got tired of the Clary/Jace drama. I know there's drama with the Jem/Will/Tess love triangle but Jem is just so addictive. I'd almost say he's perfect. :) I like the era of The Infernal Devices better too, it makes it more interesting.

Thalia (thaliaanderson) Passant, you know, I really can't pick between the first three! I love the first one, mainly for the rip-my-heart-out-and-stomp-on-it ending; I love the second one (mainly for page, I think, 200? How am I supposed to choose?!

message 34: by Passant (new)

Passant (cool_baby) | 32 comments lool Thalia maybe when CoLS comes out you could choose it :)
can u choose your fav. in TID?

looool Nidhi! i went crazy in those times!!!

message 35: by Thalia (last edited Jan 30, 2012 08:53PM) (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) Can you believe that I remembered page 200 after all this time, since I first read the book? I always knew page 200 was my favorite page on CoA. <3

Bahh, I don't know if CoLS can compare. But then again, I didn't think Clockwork Prince would compare and well, look where that got me. x)
But definitely Clockwork Prince, so far. Actually, Clockwork Angel was a little slow and boring for me! I felt like Clare was trying too hard to make Will like Jace (because Jace was such a successful character). I didn't have any of those feelings that I usually associate with Clare's stories.

And maybe she took that as a challenge and set it up so that my soul and heart and self would just be totally destroyed by CP, which she totally succeeded in.

message 36: by Passant (new)

Passant (cool_baby) | 32 comments hehehe!! so you have a fav in TID but not in TMI, does that further prove that you prefer TMI over TID? because you cant even start to compare them????

message 37: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) Oh yeah, I know I love TMI way more. TMI had me hooked from the beginning and I couldn't even begin to describe my feelings for it. I actually stayed home from school for two days because I felt so totally sick, distressed, like I would never, ever be the same again. I couldn't move, I couldn't breathe. CP was distressing, but I'm still physically aware that I'm alive, which after reading the TMI books, I didn't even think I knew what breathing was.

I'm really fun to watch when I'm watching Lord of the Rings, too. Endless sobbing, endless emotions. I get so dang emotional over everyyyythingggg.

message 38: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Thomas (nidhithomas) | 23 comments Oh oh! Same here with TMI. Oi My friend told me to buy ALL of the three books, I was confused why she told me that. I bought the books, I went home and started reading and oh my god! I just, swear never put the bloody book down and just got my mom to bring my food and water..at the end of the first book I just..argh! and then the second and then the third and then I died, may Nidhi rest in peace...for she will be greatly missed....I just feel in Love with Cassandra Clare for this Series and my friend! Then came TID, first book i found it a bit of a drag and I thought the second book ain't going to be to good, but since I love Cassandra Clare and well secretly vowed I would read every one of her books so I gave it a shot and I flawed my self crying, I wanted to hurl the damn book or set it on fire, bang my head, dig a hole lie in it...That was my reaction...

I too felt it was a let down, maybe because City of Glass was just so amazing, I expected way more from it.
Though as long as Magnus is still there, I will keep reading, I am a sucker for him. I would ship him with anyone in the books, just not with Simon, that would be weird.

message 40: by Thalia (last edited Jan 30, 2012 09:56PM) (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) Nidhi, setting CP on fire. Yes, this is exactly what I wanted. I wanted to rip out pages 463 to 475, and burn the rest of the book. I wanted to frame those pages and pretend that was the entire story, and that was the ending. <3

Astoria, yeah, you can tell that Clare thought she would be ending it. But then they wanted her to write three more in the series, and she found of floundered for a solid plot and spent CoFA trying to find something new to write about...

message 41: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Thomas (nidhithomas) | 23 comments Haha I agree. And when I heard City of Glass was the last book I was upset, but I didn't wish for more, but then I re-read it and noticed that she totally left the ending without knowing if Sebastian still lived....She didn't confirm it...so that got me thinking, if she thought about writing three more books while writing CoG?
Oh and I found that CoFA a complete different series to TMI do you know what I mean? It just feels different and just distant from the first three MI..?? When I got CoFA it took my head a long time to adjust to the idea that it was still TMI but no....it just felt different?

message 42: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) Yeah, you're right. It feels like a spin-off series, with the same characters, but not the TMI series that I fell in love with.

message 43: by Amelia (new)

Amelia (amiia) The Infernal Devices!!! I love the spin-off books!

message 44: by Fatema (new)

Sandee is Reading (sandeeisreading) I love both of them but I liked the characters and the plot more of Infernal Devices.
And in my opinion Mortal Instruments should have stopped in City of Glass. :(

That's why still haven't read COFA. My friends told me it wasn't as good as the first three but still I'd love to read the City of Lost Souls. Cover is just soooo cool!
