If you go back in to edit your poll and there should be a box to check that makes it the featured poll.

I took care of it Michelle. Setting up polls is not as easy as the finished poll looks :)

Thanks for such good choices Michelle!

LynnB @Candy - Will you be putting up a poll soon for our September read? (I like to have time to find it and buy it if necessary.) Can't wait to see our choices!

I believe Candy may be choosing our reads and not having a poll.

Ah! Forgot about that option! Thanks for the reminder.

Ready for our September reads? When I first recieved the honor of choosing the reads for this month I did a bit of research and discovered that September is the birth month for the Mother of the cozy mystery, Agatha Christie. I decided I had to pick one of her novels. So, in honor of Agatha we will be reading The Mysterious Affair at Styles. There are numerous editions, so pick one and enjoy the first Poirot novel.

For our second read, I'm loosely continuing the theme by choosing one of my favorite authors whose books I often describe as a modern day Poirot. I met her at a book signing we hosted at the Barnes and Noble I work at and she is an awesome lady. So, my second choice is Still Life by Louise Penny.

The Mysterious Affair at Styles (Hercule Poirot #1) by Agatha Christie and
Still Life (Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, #1) by Louise Penny

Tara Wonderful choices... I am so far behind in reading our monthly choices.. but I am going to try to get to that Agatha Christie one next month.

Carey | 14 comments I'm ready for the Agatha Christie read for September. I'm going to see if I can find August choice Murderer buys a T-shirt.

Just the nudge I need to get Still Life Still Life (Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, #1) by Louise Penny off the TBR mountain! Louise Penny has been winning mystery awards and getting great reviews. I keep meaning to check her out.

This month, I'll be able to read both!

message 66: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I'm going to read Still Life. I've read the Christie more than once, so I don't think I'll read that one again.

message 67: by DonnaCarol (new)

DonnaCarol | 128 comments Wouldn't you know that out of 25 Agatha Christie books,(2 of which has a combined 13 other stories in them) I don't have The Mysterious Affair at Styles? I will be looking for this one to buy but I will also see if my public library has it. I am very anxcious to try the Louise Penny. She (as an author) has been very highly recommended to me by other Goodreads members.Good choices. Thanks.

I'm sure you have 600 names on your list of folks who've volunteered to do this, and I know I'm new to the group, but I'd love a chance to choose a book or two :)

The Christie is a free download on the kindle.

Ashley has set up a poll to choose our October books. It starts today and runs through Sunday. I hope you'll take the time to vote. They're all great choices!

message 77: by Ashley FL (new)

Ashley FL | 26 comments For those involved in the discussion over at the Poll about the Mrs. Pollifax book (which came in 3rd, so will not be a featured book), I am about half-way though it now (on audio). It is about an older woman who basically recruits herself into the CIA in the '60s. It isn't exactly a "cozy mystery" (in that there is mystery, but the it is more suspense with some mystery thrown in) but it is very light-hearted in the same vein as a cozy. It is sort of "cozy suspense". There is some reference to Cold War-era politics, but I would not describe it as "political" because it is much more about the relationships between the people.

If any of that makes sense at all :)

Rebecka - The easiest place is on the group homepage. The "Currently Reading" section shows the covers and titles of the current books. And I've set it up so the current books will be the first two books listed in the "Featured Series and Cozies" section.

Not yet. I'm looking forward to seeing what we will be reading, too.

LynnB BTW - November is Tasha's according to the list.

Tasha's no longer a member of the group. She joined because of Stephanie's invitation, but cozies just weren't her thing, so she thought it would be better to leave.

I've set up a new topic about November's books. Check it out and see what you think.

message 90: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Me too! I'd love a turn at picking next year!

Stephanie is in charge of choosing the books for December. She's going to have two polls - one to choose a hoilday themed book, and one for a non-holiday one. You'll vote once in each poll, and the top book from each will be our December reads.

The poll for the non-holiday book is up and ready for you to vote! Stephanie's got some good choices!

message 92: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 2505 comments Mod
Ok, Stephanie's second poll is now up. Remember to vote in both polls!

AngryGreyCat (angrygreycatreads) | 665 comments Just FYI for people Barnes and Noble has several used copies of Not a Creature is Stirring for .01 after the shipping and tax I spent $4.28.
