Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments We're reading it for a buddy read this month--I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to, but it was worth reading.

If you decide to read it, feel free to jump into the discussion (even if it's after August)! http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9...

mussolet (sovotchka) | 615 comments I've actually finished my book for this month already. My link is referencing/based upon another work of fiction", and while I had thought to pick "Among Others", I have just finished For Darkness Shows the Stars, which is a retelling of Persuasion. Think that will suffice :).
Now I have to come up with another link for next month.

Danielle (dmansell) | 135 comments September's string was an eposilatory-ish novel. I had a very busy month and haven't been able to get much reading in but Deadline by Mira Grant has a lot of blog posts moving the story forward so I'm saying it counts :)

I'm not sure what thread I'm going with for October.

mussolet (sovotchka) | 615 comments I've finally decided on my link for this month. That was really hard...

January: Ox-Tales Earth
-> the importance of nature and what it means to a person
February: The Summer Book
-> a book for children / young adults talking about difficult concepts
March: The Little Prince
-> an audio book as some kind of memoir
April: Murmeln Meiner Kindheit (in German)
-> Middle Eastern childhood & tradition
May: Keeping Corner
-> traditional international cooking
June: A Vineyard in Tuscany: A Wine Lover's Dream
-> Tuscany & Italian wine
July: Gabriel's Inferno
-> based on a classic work of fiction (July: Dante's Inferno, August: Persuasion)
August: For Darkness Shows the Stars
-> a fantastical world where a strong female character has to find her own way
September: The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms

Ox-Tales Earth by Mark Ellingham The Summer Book by Tove Jansson The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Murmeln meiner Kindheit by Rafik Schami Keeping Corner by Kashmira Sheth Ein Weinberg in der Toskana - Wie mein Traum wahr wurde by Ferenc Máté
Gabriel's Inferno (Gabriel's Inferno #1) by Sylvain Reynard For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (The Inheritance Trilogy, #1) by N.K. Jemisin

I'm now totally stumped on October, but that problem is still two days away ;).

Kattibrie | 96 comments Finished my first one:

1. The Moonstone

I won't go into details because I'd probably have to use spoilers, but the theme I choose for next month is opium. I'll probably try to find Confessions of an English Opium Eater - it was mentioned in The Moonstone.

COMPLETED 1/12

I noticed this one was updated nearly as much as the other challenges but it was actually my favourite this year.
