Lala | 1065 comments Hey everybody :)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments Hello everyone - this is my 4th time around - game is really a lot of fun especially when you have teams really close to bingoing...

message 9: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 540 comments Hi Everybody! I think this is my third time playing. I was on a team with Sallie before. Like walking through my neighborhood I recognize the doggie first! :) Can't wait to get started!

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 346 comments Hi all! I haven't played BINGO in this group before, but I have (and am) played in the M/M Romance group :)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Hey, Mandy, how'd it go over @ M|M? I kept meaning to ask the mods, but forgot. They were sweet to ask to use the idea, I hope everyone enjoyed it.

Hi Karen - would you believe that sweet doggie is celebrating her 7th Birthday today...we are having cupcakes later - have to celebrate her birthday...cant believe we have had her 7 years we picked her up from the breader when she was 8 weeks old.
Im looking forward to getting the game on

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments ladies we need a name & we also need to pick a Captain....

message 14: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 540 comments Enjoy your cupcakes Sallie!

I've played a few times and haven't had the Captaining responsibility yet so I don't mind doing it. I also don't mind not doing it if someone else really wants to.

As far as names go...I'm an awful namer. I'll try to think of something but I usually just defer to someone with better naming skills.

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments I have been Captain twice already so I gladly pass to someone else. I vote for Karen

The only thing I have in my head right now is "the power of 3" from Charmed...

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments Karen - Im looking forward to reading how you liked A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness ..almost picked that one myself but was afraid I wouldnt have it finished in time for the next shelf announcement....dont forget to email Steph to let her know we are going with the "power of 3" as our team name....

message 24: by Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (last edited Feb 05, 2012 09:44AM) (new)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments Im posting this for Jennifer as per her request....
Jennifer I hope this helps - if not let us know & will try to make things easier for you -

To get free space credit, each team member must pick a book from one of these three options:

** Please keep in mind that all books chosen during the game must be a minimum of 200 pages and graphic novels are not allowed.

(1) An SOS Book of the Month: Any month while the game is in play

OR

(2) A book off of any of the group's new release threads: Any book listed on one of the new release threads; no matter the date of release

OR

(3) A book off of the group's bookshelf: Any shelf or tag; No date restriction - books added at anytime may be chosen

Be sure to post on your team's thread: which book you chose for FREE SPACE credit, which of the three options above you used to pick your book, your rating and your review once you've read it.

Once all members of each team have posted the above information, your team will get "a stamp" in the FREE SPACE. :D

Members don't have to pick and read a book right away, they can, but it's not required. This is not a team read, each member chooses their own book TBR for their team's free space credit. You can choose which book to read and when to read it, but no team will get free space credit until all members have read, rated & reviewed a book chosen from one those options.

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 540 comments Thanks Sallie. I wasn't sure how that got changed. I'll shoot Steph a message. And, yeah, I was a little concerned about the length of that one but it just came in at the library for me and I figured it's week 1 so no one can get bingo yet anyway so I'll have time to catch up.

Hi Jennifer - the link to the free read post is here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/5... All of the explanations and links are posted in that thread but basically it's any book that's a group read during the bingo round, anything on the group's bookshelves or anything from the new release thread in the group.

JenniferJ I think this book is one of the ones I can read for my free space but would feel better if one of you would double check for me. I took it from the number 3 option (Groups Bookshelf) Karma Girl (Bigtime, #1) by Jennifer Estep If it is then please add it for me as my free space book. :)

Thanks for helping me ladies! So happy to have found this group and reading game!

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 346 comments Finished with No Humans Involved (Women of the Otherworld, #7) by Kelley Armstrong - which I found to be a funny title, since that ISN'T how it plays out! I gave the book 4 stars - if you are a fan of the series, this one does not disappoint. I appreciate that the fact that the heroine is 43 and her love interest is in his 50s. I find this series fun for the sheer fact that the various books deal with different couples with a range of supernatural-ness and ages and that the trials they face are so varied. In this book, (view spoiler)

Glad you liked it Mandy - that's my next book in that series and I've been looking forward to Jaime and Jeremy's story. I was tempted but I stayed away from the spoiler.

That's why I love using the spoiler tag - I hate to mess up someone else's enjoyment of a story.

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments I finished my free space read Black Heart Loa (Hoodoo, #2) by Adrian Phoenix ..4*s..I loved it Im always afraid to write too much here because I am afraid I will give something away that will ruin it for the next person coming along but I have to say if you liked the first book in this series then you are going to like this one as well..AP did an excellent job of bringing you up to speed with where the 1st book, Black Dust Mambo played out...I loved that because I didnt have to play the guessing game of what happened in the last book to figure out where you were in this one. Even though the book looks a little too much to undertake it is a fast read.
Now Im off to read my shelf book for a stamp

message 38: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 346 comments I chose my free space book - I will read Dark Warrior Untamed (The Talions, #3) by Alexis Morgan - another book that has been physically languishing on my shelf since I use my Nook so much more than reading paper books these days :)

message 43: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 540 comments I finished A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness . I really liked it and gave it 4*s despite what I thought were some flaws. The pacing is definitely up and down in the first half, there are some pretty slow sections. But I ended up loving the characters and the world the author created. I particularly loved some of the secondary characters and I'm really hoping we get some of their POV in the next book.

I got more wordy in my review so I didn't paste is fully here but if you're interested: Karen's Discovery of Witches Review

message 44: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 346 comments Dark Warrior Untamed (The Talions, #3) by Alexis Morgan - 4 stars

This installment of the Talions' series does not disappoint - you have the broody, old, alpha male hero and the strong modern female he falls for, wrapped in more political drama when the current Grand Dame of the Kyth becomes the target of terror. (view spoiler)

message 48: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ I wanted to leave an update to. I am about 3/4 way in my book for this week and should have review up later tonite as well as my free spot review by tomorrow. :) Both are amazing and I don't know why they have been collecting so much dust on my shelf!

Lala | 1065 comments My free space read:

message 50: by JenniferJ (last edited Feb 11, 2012 05:08AM) (new)

JenniferJ I am giving Immortal Beloved (Immortal Beloved, #1) by Cate Tiernan a rating of 5 stars 02/11/12

I am a huge fan of Cate Tiernan's books so it was of no surprise that I had a hard time putting this one down. The action begins in the first few pages and I don't think I ever found a dull or boring spot in the entire story. Still I was a little dismayed at first because I think I went into reading Immortal Beloved with the thoughts that it would have some resemblance to her awesome Sweep Series and it so totally doesn't but it takes on a life of it's own and I want more!

Longer Review can be found HERE.
