Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.

Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone - one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship - tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.

Now, Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming!

When I first heard about this book I had my doubts but decided to give it a chance anyway because it was highly recommended by one of my favorite authors. I was hooked from the beginning and absolutely loved every second of it ... I was left speechless by the end. So unexpected :O
And this is actually the book that helped develop my love for science fiction :)

I love this book..It was an amazing fast paced Sci-Fi Mystery.. I liked how the POV switched from Elder to Amy. I need to read A MILLION SUNS but my dumb library doesn't have it :O

I want to read it but i have so many other books to read! At first i thought it was a beatles novel :P

Well the title is a reference to the Beatles song and the book opens up with a quote from that song

I'm like in the 100s of the book after Amy wakes up and Eldest is spreading lies about her. This book was slow for me in the beginning but it'spicking up now. (: I still have high hopes for this book!!

I am getting it from the Library soon, I can't wait!

I'm going to a community college (i messed up in high school) but will transfer to UC San Diego soon. Well as of right now thats my choice. My friends visited Berkley and they say it's gorgeous!

i heard USC is really great! I want to go to go somewhere completely different

I wanted to leave California and maybe go to Oregon or Tennessee but I don't think Im ready for that yet. Plus UC San Diego is the best school for Psychology :)

I got the first hundred pages done last night and I almost hyperventilated. Being buried alive on my worst fear and I a almost had to stop reading. Hopefully there won't be anymore of that. I am really enjoying the book though!

I decided not to finish the book, it is too stupid, not enough mystery and the girl is a whinny brat! There is my review from reading the first 150 pages.

Oh.. I seemed to enjoy it. I didn't find Amy a brat at all.. Got the sequel at the library yesterday :)

OK,Ok I couldn't do it. I finished the book last night and I actually started to enjoy it. It got better after the 150 pages. I will be posting my review soon.

Just finished the book last night. The first few pages I was really squirmish to get through when the author is describing Amy's parents being frozen. But after that I enjoyed the book. I'm on to the second book, A Million Suns, now.

Nope. Still only two star's. I only like a few bits and pieces from it, I have to like a least a third of the book or one charter before giving it three stars.

The sequel was freaking amazing!! Im pretty sure my face was like this the whole time ----> :O
and I said "Oh My Gosh!!" and "Holy Bleep" so many times, because a lot happens and so many things are revealed! It is interesting from the very beginning to the very end!!!...but I was also a huge fan of the first which you did not like so I dont know whether you will like it.

The sequel was as Karina mentioned.. AMAZING.. can't wait for Shades of Earth

I read this book because the blurb at the back just caught my attention so much that I had to buy it (impulsive, but some of the best books I've read are the ones I bought on impulse)

THEN I JUST ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE WITH THE BOOK. what I love best was how Elder and Amy were trying to work together despite them being years apart in every aspect.


My love for this book just knows no bounds and I can't wait to get a copy of 'A Million Suns'

At first I thought, "Hey this book cover is pretty" then I read the blurb and I just couldn't let it go, I just thought that if I didn't buy it at that moment I'd regret it (exaggerated but you know what I mean).

I LOVE AMY AND ELDER SO MUCH, and the writing was very beautiful especially with the twists.

A MILLION SUNS rocks.

I finished reading this book last night. It wasn't the BEST dystopian future book I have read, but it was very enjoyable. I plan on reading the sequel.

(view spoiler)[The Phydrus (is that how you spell it) reminded me of the soma in "Brave New World." Anybody else make that connection? It wasn't a big surprise, though, they hinted at something in the water so much.

Did anyone else find it unconvincing that both Doc and Eldest wouldn't have realized that the other Elder/ Orion was alive and working in the recorder hall?

Also, I was a little confused about the flashback to Jason. It seemed obvious to me that the girl that Amy described was just some catty highschooler trying to make her feel bad about her boyfriend, but in the end it seems clear that Amy believes that it was true that Jason was cheating on her. Was their love not real? (hide spoiler)]

I get it that it's written for a young audience, but how many times do we need to see the scene played out: the young girl almost getting raped and being rescued at the last second by a man? What did that trauma really add to the book? it showed Luthe as a villian, but we already sensed that, and his character never even came in to play (of course, there is a chance that it will play in the second or third book) (hide spoiler)]

I loved it personally.. the 2nd book is way more intense.
