Kathy's response reveals just how empty she really is. I'm not sure she actually even feels "love" per se . . .I think she feels need and codependency, and she doesn't feel she is worth being truly loved. Leter is ... well, you know how I feel, I don't need to get into it again. ;)
Oh, I think I am going to have to come back to this one after dinner! I was struggling to remember he response, but some of it is coming back to me!!! hahahaha
OK, I don't remember a lot of the Kathy and Nick part, but what I do remember is that she never told any of her family that he was gone. This seems to be a theme in her life. She knew that at some point her family would find out and it would all blow up in her face and she still didn't tell them. She ignored the letters from the county and it was the same thing. Eventually all of these things she ignores, hoping they will just go away, will come back and bite her in the ass (pardon my language).
I really feel like this whole "ignore it and it will go away" aspect of her life is the depression that she suffers from. And it has turned into a cycle. It just causes more problems and more depression. Very sad. Not a lot of self worth involved.
Lester (said with a tone) "fell in love with her" because she *needed* him and he *needed* someone to need him! Codependency is the perfect description! Damsel in distress. Knight in shining armor! Name the cliche, it's there!!!
I think both men were terribly wrong for her and I don't think that she would ever have found the right man without finding herself first!
Phew! Glad I got all of that off my chest!!! lol
