6. At what point do Kathy's and Lester's actions depart from the path of a simple desire for justice and move into something else? Why can neither of them seem to act rationally? Does Behrani act rationally?

When Lester goes to the house dressed in his uniform, you get a sense of dread and realize that there is no turning back at this point. Things from then on get worse and worse and worse. Both of them are experiencing difficulties in their personal lives anyway, and alcohol just fuels the fire of irrationality. Behrani is almost too rational, and not compassionate. He is right that a mistake was made and it is not his fault, but he can't see it from a human point of view.

Somehow I missed this one on the first round. Lester (tone lol) going to the house in uniform and especially concealing his identity was the beginning of the end! If I remember right, it is really the first time anyone has broken the law. That should have been a tip that they were going in the wrong direction!
You are right about the alcohol and maybe adding the "love" euphoria to mix didn't help either. I think they both really needed to think that all of what they were doing was OK.
In these circumstances, I think that it would be almost impossible for Behrani to act rationally. To be harassed, threatened like that would make it very difficult. I do with that he had tried earlier to see her side more, but once of of this started I can understand his unwillingness to.
