7. Does Lester drink to break free of a sense of deadness, or to anesthetize himself? Why does he risk his family life as well as his professional life for his involvement with Kathy? Is he attempting to reinvigorate his life, or is he unconsciously seeking to destroy himself?

I don't know . . .I don't know. I found myself despising Lester. I felt like he was a fool, trying to find "happiness" by an alcohol-fueled sexual affair. I don't think he loved Kathy in the least. He may have thought he did, but she was just an escape for him, and in some ways I blame him for her relapse and everything that followed after he met her . . .including the deaths of the Behrani family. I really disliked him.

OMG I hate Lester!!! lmao!! Sorry! I really hate him!! I think he drinks because he is pathetic! And I know Kathy had her own problems that she should have worked on but he really dragged her right down into the gutter! I mean for crying out loud!!! They were bathing in a stream!!!! No toilet! No nothing! This was his solution??? He thought this was going to change his life for the better???

I think he should have never married in the first place. I have always thought that pregnancy was a bad reason to get married. He has just made one bad decision after another and taken these women along for the ride!

I am glad it's not just me . . .I felt a little bad, but I seriously despise that guy. And I agree with everything you said!
