What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

So I read this book a few years ago now, maybe 2008 and I don't think it was new then.

In the first book, I'm not quite sure if the main character is a shapeshifter, or just one of the characters, but there's a girl that can turn into a fox. In this book, some people get kidnapped and held at this house with creepy guys, I'm almost positive the people holding them were vampires.

They also had a hideout house which they drove to from somewhere else, and it was kind of farmy, out of the way, and there was a big enough group there.

Now the second book brings back some of the characters from the first. From what I can remember, the main guys name is Jack of Spades or Jack of Aces, and no amount of googling is helping me find anything. And the main girl is some rich vampire princess, and bored and she's looking for someone and he decides to help her find whoever it was she was looking for. And I'm pretty sure Jack is also a vampire. That's all I remember.

I really hope someone can help me find this. It's driving me nuts.

Well, don't recognize book 2 exactly, but book one is Wolf at the Door by Christine Warren. Its book 1 in her "The Others" series. I believe that there are 11 or so books in the series now, and I will admit I haven't read them all, so its possible that your second book is one of the others. The main princess one I remember was a Fairy Princess, not a vampire princess. But, like I said, I haven't read them all.

I haven't read the book, (Tried and couldn't get into it) so I'm not sure about the other plot points, but this book has a girl who can turn into a fox.

If you haven't already read the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs maybe have a look at book 2. I think it has some creepy vampire holding people in a house. I don't remember anyone shifting into a fox but Mercy shifts into a coyote. The only books I've read about a fox shifter are the early Anita Blake books by Laurell K Hamilton :)

I don't think that it's Mercy--none of the things the OP listed have happened in any one book. Plus there are not fox shifters.

I've only read a few, and its been years, but there is a scene where a girl is kidnapped by vampires, the hideout house with the group and the spoiled girl are in one of the ones I've read. I even think there was an old "friend" of Bones that was named Jack of Blades/Spades, Aces... Hearts... something....

I honestly don't remember whether there was a fox shifter in this series or not but I know I've read at least one book with one of those so it is possible.

I'm pretty sure that's the first one you mentioned, but I'm not sure on the second.
