WHAAAA.

But it won't be long and my 8yo-going-on-9yo boy will want to read some heavier stuff. Books this thick are a ways off for him though. ;) I'm just glad the kid reads finally!

But, ya, My kids are the worst! We cannot divulge secret information anywhere in their midst!..especially the 6 year old! He practically RUNS outta the room spewing info! LOL! Oh, well...good thing I don't get too upset about it anymore! :)

I'm about half done. Read the first almost-hundred pages last night and the rest today. I must say, my opinions lean to almost opposite the rest of you though.
I guess I just like history (odd for me because I didn't in school), or maybe it's my fascination with elves thanks to Tolkien, but I much more enjoyed the first 100 pages of (view spoiler) than I do the next hundred pages of travelling.
I'll say about that, though, that I did enjoy the spotted inserts of (view spoiler) in there.
The story is again picking up for me now, though. I've just finished the section where (view spoiler) and enjoyed hearing that.
I only see very dim traces of Tolkien, and am not seeing the storyline really at all. I think Paolini did a fantastic job sticking to Tolkien's outlines of the characteristics of elves and other fantasy creatures, at least so far. He'd have been hard pressed to try changing anyone's idea of what an elf is, and if he used any other definition of elves he'd likely not have done as well in the fantasy genre of readers. At least, I'd not like it as well had he varied much from the Tolkien idea of the "high elven" race.
Planning to finish this book by the end of the weekend! Also picked up and started another non-fic. LOL Yeah, I know, but it's one of those that is making the rounds at the church and I need to read it while it's my turn and pass it on. ;)

There's one series I started several years ago with 12 books. I started it just as book 10 was about to be released, having waited to start it until I thought it was close enough to complete that I wouldn't have the cliff-hanger experience the rest of my family had endured. I finished book 9 and the library was constantly out of book 10, and then I had a baby. The rest is history. I plan to re-read the first 9 of that series this year (that baby? he'll be 9 in may...) and finish it already! LOL

Glad you're enjoying it, Dalynn! (: It's so beautifully written!

Enjoyed more as the activity picked up, and at the beauty of the dwarf city. (I was beginning to wonder if there were going to BE any dwarves! LOL)
Intended to stay up last night and finish it, but the babies insisted otherwise, so I'm glad to finish it today.
Glad Eragon made the decision he did. Disappointed with Arya for what I'm sure her disappointment is. Though the book doesn't say, she DID mention her intentions earlier, so I'm sure I'm right in my guess there. Tickled for Eragon, but disappointed with her.
And a little ticked off at the one chapter included of Eldest, complete with spoiler in the last sentence. *head smack* I didn't even read the chapter! Just thumbed through the pages following the end of Eragon itself, read some pronunciations and such, and spied the sentence on accident. UGH.
But, even before that, I knew that it will take some serious control to not just pick up Eldest next. I must read some League of Extraordinary Gentlemen! I must! ;)

Trongheim seems like it would be spectacular to look at! It's unfortunate that it wasn't even in the movie!

Woo hoo, April! I'll definitely be joining youin celebration by tomorrow! (: I'm speeding through dinner and then I won't come out of my room until I'm done!
(view spoiler)[I know what you mean! I wanted to trust him SO badly, so I really hope he doesn't end up betraying everybody in one of the later books! I actually like him, even if he is a little sketchy! (hide spoiler)]
