Dolores (dizzydee39) | 17 comments I loved this book. I read it when I was younger and I am glad that I read it again as an adult because I saw it from a different viewpoint. I also found many things that I didn't remember from my earlier readings. When I read it as a young teenager, I remember crying at the end. It was very hard for me to put this book down. I kept wanting to continue reading to find out what was happening each day in this teenage girl's life even though I knew the outcome. The book also shows how she grows and matures emotionally during the time she is cooped up with 7 other people in cramped quarters. I found myself wondering how I would have behaved in the same circumstances both at her age and at my age now. I don't think that I would have been able to handle it as well as Anne did when I was her age.

Trisha I thought that this book was really sad, epecially when you remind yourself that it is a non-fiction book and that she and her family had been living in hiding. It is such a heartbreaking story, and I couldn't imagine experiencing what they had gone through.

Mayra (kaligurl_7) | 371 comments i remember reading them in school and i was like omg! your right its different than reading other books, because she wrote what she was going through, and i remember thinking if she could have geld on just a bit longer, they came to the camps shortly after she died. it was so sad.

Daniel Lee (96dani) | 2 comments reading a diary of a young girl, who was going through so much during her age, is such a thriller, and a sad story. it feels as if u were with anne and hiding wit her from the nazis. very moving and touching story. a must read.

Psychotic Saeeda I think the story is sad and I do accept that Anne went through a lot at her time but I also believe that she is being praised and sympathized with too much. There are much more people in reality who have gone through far worse!!! Even fictional characters in the time of the war went through worse ( eg:- 'the boy in the striped pajamas')

Kim Williamson | 66 comments I don't think the point of publishing this is to make Anne out to be heroic. All teenage girls are emotional train wrecks. Her writing reminds me so much of my own daughter who is 16. They are obsessive at times and think that no one can possibly understand them. I think the point of publishing her dairy was to show that the only difference between her and other girls her age was her religion, and to serve as a reminder that given the right political climate and military backing it could happen to anyone.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I've read it twice. I found Anne to be a realistic teen with her annoyances with her mother, but a beautiful person shone through the whole time.

I don't think the boy in the striped pajamas went through worse.

She is not sympathized with more, but is a model of this time period because of the diary, the timing, and how close the family made it before being caught.
