Vymletoza ... that wanted Elinor and colonel Brandon to be together? they were perfect. I would definitely love the book even more if they were a couple. What do you think?

Nicole D. No.I can't even see them together but as friends.
They had a more brother sister relationship feel to me.
Elinor fits with Edward.Marianne fits with Colonel Brandon.

I wanted them together. They seemed to just fit together perfectly. Sometimes I forget the real ending and I live in a dream land where they did get together :)

Isabel I think Elinor and Edward fit together perfectly, although she would also have fit with Colonel Brandon but not as well, and of course she didn't love him!
I also think maybe Marianne should have been with someone slightly livelier than Colonel Brandon, although of course he had a great love of poetry

Mara Oh, no, no, no, no. Colonel Brandon was entirely perfect for Marianne. His steady nature anchored Marianne's more air-headed ways.

Joanna Mikalis Naw....I guess I always think of S&S as the "sister" book. Edward, Colonel Brandon, and Whilougby were romantic interests, but more importantly, they helped Eleanor and Marianne continue to discover new aspects of each other's personalities.

Eleanor and Colonel Brandon were too much alike. They understood Marianne, the good and the bad.

I wouldn't have mind seeing Eleanor and Colonel Brandon together, since they are my favourite characters in the book. I didn't like Edward, i found him to be a weak character. He only stays with Eleanor because Lucy _ not so sure about her name anymore! _ leaves him. And not because he takes a stand.
And Marianne, when i think of her ...i think of this silly and superficial girl.
And that's why "sense and sensibility" is not my favourite Austen book.

Valerie I was hoping for the same thing. I don't go in for romantic notions and all that junk. The relationship seemed like it would have been more solid and beneficial to both parties. Lust/ irrational romantic notions go away quickly. Maybe he did end up with the right one as Brandon's wearing his heart on his sleeve would turn someone like Elinor off. I know it would me.

Annalisa Crawford I always thought they should end up together. And then the Emma Thompson version gave us Alan Rickman as Brandon, which was perfect (for me and for Elinor!)

Donald I think that Elinor and Colonel Brandon would have been a snore fest together! Too similar. I think that Jane had the right idea and made her matches perfectly.

Alessandra I enjoyed how the book went, but I thought that Colonel Brandon would have been a good fit for Elinor, and Edward for Marianne. Colonel Brandon and Elinor understood each other very well, and Marianne and Edward were both rather lightweight.

Still, I'm not going to second-guess Jane Austen.

A. I get your point, and I even thought the same thing once, but I think they were better off friends. Colonel Brandon steadied Marianne. They went well together. If it had happened the other way I wouldn't have been too upset, though.

Sallyavena Watching the movies, the Emma Thompson one and the 2008 one, I found myself hoping that, even though I knew the outcome of the book. When I reread the book though, I think the way Austen writes it is perfect.

Aerykah Elinor & Col. Brandon might've been able to have a good marriage based on mutual respect, but they didn't love each other.
Personally, I never wanted those two to get together. I always thought Col. Brandon & Marianne were pretty great together. Their personalities kinda balanced each other...
