i have this copy of count of monte cristo. just like to ask if i would be missing alot of things if i read this version? do i have to read another version instead.

There's another thread on this book called Abridged or Unabridged where a lot of people have discussed which they think is better. You might find some of your answers there. Obviously you will be missing some things by reading an incomplete version, but that is just fine for some readers. I haven't read an abridged version, so I don't know which parts are left out.
You need to read the Unabridged version.
No difference from one unabridged to another. Really great story: dramatic, romantic, revenge and redemption. It's SO worth reading the full text.
The version I like best is translated by Robin Buss. It is the Penguin Classic version.
