The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff.
This one is a book club read for school. My friend Tristan already read it and said it was "odd", but wouldn't tell me anything else, hahah. We'll see. (:
And on the other hand, I'm also starting POE!

Sound like a plan? Maybe!

So now I am on to reading some Dashiell Hammett for the B&N Mystery forum (we're discussing American classic mystery writers the last week of each month, and Hammett is up for March). I think I've had the ones I'm going to read at least a year or maybe two, so they are going to be added to my Dusty Book challenge as I start them. First up - The Continental Op, a volume of short stories featuring one of Hammett's regular sleuths, a private detective. I'm one story in, and enjoying it!

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
For my Honors American Literature class! I actually like it so far. (:

@Chimney, is hunger game a plane/airport book?

Currently reading -
Breaking Through by Francisco Jimenez

Of those 3, I have only read INVISIBLE MAN. I didn't care for it though.

I've got the exact same problem over here too... it's really bugging me and next week I have a friend over to stay so won't be able to read much, if at all, at that point :S

we read Huck Finn this year too! thats weird! i really didn't like huck finn it was just weird. yea the Great Gatsby is amazing. i bet you guys read Henry David Thoreau too & all the other transcendentalist works? they were my absolute FAVORITE!
Chimney- Have you seen the movie yet? It's awesome. One of the best book to movie adaptions I've ever seen. I <3 Peeta too :)

I think all junior classes read the same thing, right? I mean, as long as it's the Honors American Literature class. (: But I'm hoping to do another novel this year! Poems and short stories are nice, but I want something to really devour!
Jessica, SO right! The movie was great! I went to the midnight showing. (: The only thing I disliked was the really quick/chopped up ending. They left a lot out that was in the book at the very end, which I didn't enjoy quite as much!

yea i think the only other book we read this year is going to be Of Mice and Men

Bloodroot by Amy Greene
and on audio ... Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier
Now reading Coop: A Year of Poultry, Pigs, and Parenting by Michael Perry
Now listening to Gods in Alabama by Joshilyn Jackson
Chimney - My mom read all the books and refuses to see the movies because she just didn't like how disturbing and violent they were. I liked the movie, but it's kind of gruesome and bloody.
So, I'm going to start the Preface to Paradise Lost by C.S. Lewis soon! Maybe even tomorrow. And then I'm going to read Paradise Lost! Both are dusty books and I'm so glad that April has gotten me to read them. Without my commitment to her I would probably just procrastinate reading them some more :) I might even break my rule of only reading one book at a time since it's epic poetry and I have a feeling it's going to make me sleepy....

Excited for you Jessica! Paradise Lost has been on my TBR list since college. I haven't gotten around to tackling it yet. I am not much for poetry so that may have something to do with it. Look forward to see how you feel about it.

I'm about 15% in and already addicted. It's so simple but effective. I really hope it continues at the same pace and style.
Finally finished Pillars Of The Earth... brilliant book just should've put aside an entire week of never leaving the house so I could get through it!
Now onto Sense and Sensibility
for the monthly challenge thing :)
I am back! Yeah, baby, yeah!

We Were the Mulvaneys is a Oprah book right? I have read a lot of her picks but haven't made it to that one yet. Anxious to hear how it turns out.

I've no idea i'm afraid Nicole (not even sure if we get oprah here). What I can tell you though is it's very very good. It's tough going as very intense sense of foreboding. I've found it quite upsetting but fantastic.

Ohhh! I've have been interested to read this! Saw the movie and enjoyed it but when I found out that it was a book, thought the book would be much better!! Will have to put it on my TBR list :)

Oh how I love that book! One of the best books I've read in years.
I'm currently reading another dusty book

The Parasites by Daphne Du Maurier. Looking forward to it.
I have rather shamefully read no Du Maurier apart from Rebecca.

I have read a number of Daphne du Maurier's works, but I haven't heard of that one, so I will be looking forward to hearing what you think of it. I just ordered The Doll, which I think is a volume of previously unpublished short stories of hers.

Ah The Dolls is one I would really like to read. In fact I like the sound of most of the short story collections.

Next up
Audio - Say Her Name: A Novel by Francisco Goldman
Text - A Bitter Veil by Libby Fischer Hellmann, and
The Girl Who Married a Lion: and Other Tales from Africa by Alexander McCall Smith
I'm currently reading The German Bride,by Joanna Hershon.
So far,I'm excited by this book!
(I gave up on another that was plodding and difficult to read because there was very little punctuation. I got bored.)
The story takes place in 1868. So far,I like the young woman who is telling the story. She and her sister have been having their portraits painted by a mysterious painter. One year later, other developments have taken place.
I like that this is humorous, romantic and a bit suspenseful. I would recommend this book to all.
