Kat (katbibliophile) | 4 comments The Librarian manual states that coloring books should be not-a-books unless they tell a story. Well there are coloring book editions of many of Graeme Base's beautifully illustrated children's books. They are exact replicas of the books, only with outline versions of the illustrations for coloring. They should be considered other editions of the books, not Not-a-books. But the ISBNs were marked as not-a-book. How can I reverse that?

The process for marking something as NOT A BOOK involves setting the author field equal to NOT A BOOK. So, just go ahead and edit the book's details and reset the author field to the correct author's name. That should fix it. (Assuming it meets the criteria, as stated in the Librarian Manual.)

p.s. You should probably add a Librarian's Note to indicate why you did this, so no one comes along and sets it back.

Kat (katbibliophile) | 4 comments Here's the problem. When you search for the ISBN, nothing comes up. When you manually add the book with the ISBN, it says "this ISBN has been marked as not a book" and wont let you add it. There's no way to "edit" the information for the ISBN because you can't access that ISBN at all.

Well, that's interesting. Here's the list of all the books that are NAB

You can sort the list by title. Beyond that, I'm not sure, because I'm pretty new to this myself. But, you can edit a book, once you find it on the list.

Kat (katbibliophile) | 4 comments Well I found a couple of other similar situations in there I could fix, but some times people change the title as well as the author so I can't actually find the two I'm looking for in the 7,500+ books listed there. How do I submit an official questions/problem to GoodReads itself?

in the past, ISBN search should be able to find the book even if it had been NABed. I don't know why it's changed.

Same here. I tried several from the list.

Nenangs | 464 comments yeah, i even copy pasted ISBN from several NAB'ed books, and the search can't find them. :(

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments I may be a recent-ish change, but I believe Rivka has stated that NABed books do not come up in search.

Correct. They are not indexed.

message 14: by Nenangs (new)

Nenangs | 464 comments oh i see.
then how to correct it when somebody incorrectly NABed a book?

One of the devs is going to have to handle that. Having ISBNs would help.
